• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I just spoke with Don a technical adviser at Shell/Penzoil about Rotella T6 full synthetic and he said that it meets the API requirements listed in our Owners Guide. I have used it for years in the regular oil grades in my motorcycles but it is good to know that the T^ Synthetic is also usable in our machines. Now that the Valvoline seems to have gone up in price I and switching back to the Rotella T6 5-40.

Oil Chemistry is complex.
Even more so with synthetics.
Mixing this and that in arbitrary proportions is fine for the highly skilled and incredibly gifted few.

But for the rest of us, I doubt if it does anyone any good and can do much more harm than good..

Penrite has served many many Australian motorcycles flawlessly for many years, including me. Australian product equivalent to the best in the world. 10-40 with 'motor cycle' specifically stated on the label, is the usual for Spyder 1310cc. Also as specified in Can-Am's manuals.

Aussie Oil

RazzleH, would you please confirm that "Penrite MC-4ST PAO & Ester Motorcycle Oil 10W-40" is the Aussie Oil you refer to, that would be suitable for my 2017 RT Limited in Australia? Thanks, Murray

Peter, whilst the link you provided didn't drill down exactly to the right spot, I followed it and worked through the drop down menus and it came up with the oil I quoted above (Penrite MC-4ST PAO & Ester Motorcycle Oil 10W-40) as being suitable for my Spyder. Thanks for your help, Murray

Just by way of an update Penrite no longer have 5w40 motorcycle oils due to low sales according to their oil tech. They now rate their HPR5 full synthetic range which includes a 5w40 as Jaso ma which means it is wet clutch rated as required by our engines.
I enquired as to the suitability of their still available 10w40 motorcycle specific range because my owners manual doesn't recommend any other viscosity. The reply was to ask the BRP dealer. Make of that what you will.
On another tangent Gulf Western have Synx 5000 5w40 full synthetic listed as wet clutch compatible Jaso MA also. So another alternative I discovered that wasn't previously available.
Both Australian manufacturers and readily available at the usual suspects.
