Atlanta to New Hampshire Trip Planned: What to Do/See?

I'm planning a trip from Atlanta to New Hampshire in October to do some leaf-peeping. I'm hoping to take my time getting up there by riding via the Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive, then staying a couple of days in the Poconos of PA before heading up to NH. Any thoughts, advice, or suggestions on where to stay, what not to miss, etc?

NEW HAMPSHIRE is a great place, try going via Rt. 100 in Vermont, south to north, you'll never regret that ride...
from there, you can cross over to NH and head south...

Not sure of your route, but on the way up take a look around Newport RI. Plenty of thing to see and do and the vacation traffic should have died down by the time you go. Ocean drive is a nice costal scenic route a bit rough in places (road) but it worth the ride.

I like Salam MA as well not too far from NH, nice ride and things to see and do if you're into history. New Hampshire as some great roads and places to visit. I like to loop up North via Vermont and back down through NH.

Route 100 as mentioned is a nice ride. http://www.brattleboro.org/ is a nice place to visit you can then take route 9 over to http://www.bennington.com/ from there route 7 north into Rutland, after Ruland take route 4 east and join route 100 north. There are lots of places to visit along route 100, like Ben and Jerry's factory tour in Waterbury on route 100, there a cider mill and keep going on to Stowe.

Then you could cut east to the white mountains if its still open in October go see the cog railway and ride to the top of Mount Washington on it. Then wind your way back down through NH.

New Hamshire

Great trip. I am originally from Vermont and it is beautiful in the fall. I hope you have reservations or a sleeping bag. It may be too late already to get a place to stay. Try for a "Bed & Breakfast" if you can find one. They have some real old and beautiful homes. While you are there go up to northern New Hampshire and cross over to Vermont and come down to Montgomery and back up over Smugglers Notch in to Stowe. Some of the resorts have their ski lifts running and you will see some sites that will take your breath. Hope you have a good time. One other thing if you have time when you come off the mountain in Stowe go back north to Burlington Vermont and cross over Lake Champlain on the ferry boat and come down the New York side of the lake. There a lot of historic places all over New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. Again have a good time wish I was going with you.

Hey Harrypottar, there is a Ben & Jerry's in my home town of St Albans. I have a nephew ( Richard Green Jr) that has more trucks then I can count, He hauls most of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. They haul skim milk to Montreal several times a week and haul back Yogurt.
