• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Apollo Astronaut Bill Anders plane crash

Bill Anders, the Apollo 8 astronaut who took the famous photograph of Earth Rising from the moons' orbit, has died today. He was 90 years old and piloting his plane when he crashed into the water between Orcas and Jones islands in the San Juan Islands, WA State.

Mr. Anders had a power cruiser aptly named Apogee that he moored at Deer Harbor Marina on Orcas Island. I spent many nights at my yacht club moorage on the same dock and walked by Apogee countless times. Bill and I had a "nodding and howdy" relationship. I had no idea about his famous background until years later. Wish I had stopped to get to know him. RIP

I spent a lot of years cruising that area. We had our last boat 19 years. Sold it in the fall of 2015 as I was finishing my Commodore year with Shelter Bay Yacht Club. We had a waterfront home just South of the Rainbow Bridge in La Conner.

You and I seem to be crossing paths. I was a 24 year member of Queen City Yacht Club in addition to Roche Harbor Yacht club. My last boat owned me for over 25 years until it was sold in 2015.

Cheers
