Anyone with an F3 tried BRP's Chopped Rear Fender?

Just wanted to see if anyone out there has done the BRP chopped rear fender kit. I like the look & wanted to know what it takes to do it. I don’t want to hack anything off that can’t be put back to original. Please let me know your pros & cons. Thanks in advance.

there was an F3 in the for sale section a while back (3-4 weeks?)with that fender.
Maybe if you could find the ad you could PM the seller/owner.
It looked very good by the way.

I have a chopped fender kit I'm willing to sell with very low miles on it. PM me if interested. I may even still have the original box it came in.

I installed it on mine before I even rode it for the first time! I was recovering from injuries which prevented me from riding it when first getting it but I knew I wasn't feeling the "euro" fender that it had stock.... There is no hacking of anything. It is a clean, direct fit. Hardest part is getting some washers and nuts started on the bolts while trying to hold the fender in place by myself. If you have a helper it will be cake!

Chopped fender

Thanks for the info & pics. I think I’m going to do it. I PMed HIspyder & I’m waiting for a response. Hey Hypurone, what muffler/exhaust pipe do you have on yours? I like the look & color. Where you located in the Bay Area?

Welcome. I have the Akra Straight Shot, and I shot it with high temp black woodstove paint! I just CAN'T do chrome/polished shiny stuff anymore!! ;) Hence the Mad Max look!

I am up in Sonoma which is a pretty good distance from you. Otherwise I would offer to have you come over and I could help you install and go for a ride!! :(

Im not a big fan of the chrome either. I had it offered up to trade for the black but come to find out that the 2017 F3 pieces are differnet than the 2015. Thinking about trying the plastic dip stuff but not sure how it will work & hold up over the chrome.

UK version not so simple.

I really wanted to fit a chopped rear fender to my F3-S as the one thing I hated on mine was the rear fender (mud guard in the UK) because it looked too Harley Davison (aaaah) and it hid the lovely wide Spyder back tire. But the BRP chopped fender part 219400597 is apparently for North America only. I thought 'what the hell' and bought it anyway (at enormous cost with delivery and import duty).

On attempting to fit it I realised why it would not fit UK and European models. We have rear direction indicators that are on stems that stick out about 10 inches on each side of the pillion seat and these prevented fitting. See picture of my F3 before I modified it and the second pic of finished job. I was quite surprise to see the North American machines don't have these indicators. But once I had removed the indicators and stems the fitting went quite well. But then I had to find a new position for the indicators. Once I decided the best position it just meant drilling two holes in the new fender. The most time consuming job was extending the wiring to suit the new position of the indicators.

I did not use the number plate mounting kit supplied because, again, it hide most of the back tire and also detracts from the sporty look of the new fender. I made my own and fitted it to the original fender support. The fender support is strongly made and gives a certain amount of rear protection as well as being a good place for the number plate. I have fitted white LEDs on the under side of the new fender to show the rear tire off at night.

Excellent job that mate. Any chance you can show us a rear on picture?

Cheers

Buster

Glad that you like it Buster, I am pleased with the look myself and think it worth the expense. Afterall my Spyder is my babe.

Black Pig Just viewing this thread I noticed you asked for a pic of my chopped F3s age ago. Here's one better late than never.YesPlyBikeNite5-30.18.jpg

I currently have both my chopped fender and inner fender removed, as I will soon be installing my Wilber rear shock. While the chopped fender was off, I sprayed the bottom side with some spray on undercoating. It does get chipped up a bit from tire debris. A little preventive maintenance :)

I know - :oldpost: ya well - but I'm bumping for possible updates please, particularly & hopefully some that allow saddle bags. Thank you
