There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Anyone have Windshield fogging up problems?

I am getting ready to buy my first Spyder...super exvited.
My question is around the windshield when it is raining. The RT limited has an adjustable windshield. Even when down, you cant see over it.
Has anyone had an issue of the windshield fogging up in the rain?

Fogging up.....no. The air flow will prevent that.

The rain rolls off good at light to moderate rain amounts.

With HEAVY rain, you NEED to stop.....for a lot of reasons.....not the least of which is that heavy rain amounts flow around the shield and SOAK you in a hurry.

Shortly after getting my Spyder, I tried to "ride out" a Florida "frog choker" downpour.
Big mistake. BIG.

P.S. I am 5'5" and have no trouble seeing over the shield at about half mast or lower.

fogging up is common when riding in the rain
it's actually due to the mist of rain landing on the inside of the windshield from blowing around the sides of the shield.
It is better to view over the windshield in most cases.

I am 5.8 and find the shield should be an inch or two lower .I like to look over the shield ,maybe a little bit of a curve would help with wind and rain.My first ride the wife and i road in the rain for 150 miles ,the wife bought some better gear this week .

400 US for the shield ,must be made of gold, which i do not have . I guess the stock will have to do. I have seen there set up at the Americade with the wiper with steel wool ,very impressive .

Take a look at 7jurock shields they are less then half that price, have the factory vent already cut in and are 3 inches wider then stock. They will make any height for you and you can get the recurve that helps with airflow.

Looks good and the price is good also. Has anyone tried one of these ,to see if it helps the turbulence . If i do not have the shield all the way up ,it is like driving behind a transport, the buffeting is bad .

Well yes, mine too.
You ARE on a motorcycle, after all.

I just leave the shield within a few inches of the top all the time.
Except maybe in town when it is slow moving and really HOT.

I got a dark tinted one 22 inch with the recurve, with the additional width I don't notice anymore wind or turbulance and I can look over it better then the stock 25 inch shield.

Yes i under stand i am on a bike !!!! It is the constant buffeting that is bad.I have had bikes since 1968 ,and this is the worst .

OK, let me rephrase:
If it is not a problem with the shield all the way UP......why don't you just leave it THERE ??

I like to look over the shield ,already look through glass ,and a tinted helmet visor. And even with the shield up all the way ,the buffeting is none stop.

50 years or riding experience makes me believe that you might not be able to see over a shield AND not have some helmet buffeting at the same time.

Good luck.

I used to have that problem with a former scooter that came with a tall windshield. I'm only 5'1" and always felt like I just didn't have the good visibility when looking through it while it was raining. Thankfully we had a windshield fabricator not too far away. I went to him and asked if he could cut it down. I removed the windshield during the winter when I wasn't riding, delivered it to him, and for less than $50 I had the perfect height for me! He did a beautiful job. Maybe you can search out a motorcycle windshield fabricator in your area. We haven't ridden in the rain yet on our new-to-us Spyder so I'm wondering if I'm going to have a problem there too.

:oldpost: - the last post in the thread before yours was posted about 3 years back, so you might not get much in the way of a response from only of the earlier posters. Sorry! :opps:
