• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Any safe way to increase the Maximum Capacity on an F3 Ltd?

I have been considering the purchase of an F3 Limited to add to the stable with the thought that Mrs. might actually ride with me. She will definitely not get on the Street Glide.

I see the maximum capacity is 440 lbs. With me at 250 and her at 150 and gear, fuel, etc we would be pushing the top range and possibly over.

Is there any safe way to increase the payload or is it better to move up to the RT Limited?

I prefer the way F3 Ltd feels and the rider fit system.

My wife and I are around those same weights (actually a little over). We have logged in many miles on our 2016 F3T and also our 2016 F3 Limited. There has never been any issues with the weight or ride.

Elka shock has an adjustable spring preload . Not cheap though…..LaMonster Garage sells and installs.
 
From what I have been able to tell the after-market shocks will improve the 2up ride handling and comfort but not necessarily increase the safe payload. Do you have information different from this? Thanks.
 
If you're going to be at max weight (or over) I would look for the weakest link in capacity and adjust that. Obvious things to look at are shocks and tires. (I'd eliminate Kendas regardless of vehicle weight). Going to CTs will totally eliminate any question about tire capacity. Then upgrading your rear shock may be in order. Your front shocks would probably be adequate but a stronger rear may be needed. I would also add a Baja Ron sway bar for added stability. Good luck..... Jim

BRP engineer's have a " safe payload " for two reasons. ... the amount of weight the OEM shocks and springs can carry and Stopping power of the OEM brakes. If you are at the TOP of the weight limit, please consider BajaRon's brake pads AND rotors, they are above the OEM capabilities. The OEM shocks should be able to handle MAX weight issues, but the spring rates should be increased..... I have read posts here of folks who found better Springs that they swapped onto the OEM shocks which saved them a lot of money .... good luck ... Mike :thumbup:

I've found over the years that it's best to not read the manual at all. That way you will have complete confidence in the vehicle of your choice, and nothing will ever go wrong.

Unfortunately, it's too late for you now.
 
Never have I read the manual. They just confuse the heck out of me.
