There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Anti Freeze leak on 2 new RTs

I posted originally in Spyder Shop Talk in error. :opps: Did get some good info but this is the correct place.

So I noticed that my RT was leaking little bit of anti-freeze. I cleaned it up, read the posts on this forum tightened the famous hose clamp but still have a small drip. it falls in the tray and can be seen by shining a light from the right side down below the hose clamp that everyone tightens.

It appears to me that the small leak is coming from the water pump.

Well I decided to take a look at my wife's RT and she has the same thing. Its a very small drip. a couple of drops, both coolant levels appear fine , the temperature on both run fine, but a leak is a leak.

I will be call BRP and the dealer tomorrow. These bikes were purchased 2 weeks apart at different dealers. Both bikes have less than 1000 miles.

This is pretty frustrating.

Any ideas, comments, suggestions?

Thanks Pete

Gidday Pete,

Amazing I have the same issue with my RTS SE5 2010 model which I bought new back in April this year and it has been back to the dealer several times trying to find the leak. In your post you mention the "famous hose clamp" Which clamp are you referring to?

Regards John

If you remove the side panel and look in there is a hose clamp that you can tighten with a flat head screw driver. DO a search on this site for anti freeze and you should find a pic. I would post for you but i struggle with the uploading. :(

Check the clamps on both ends of the thermostat housing, part #26 in the attached photo. They were both loose enough on my 2011 RTS SM5 to cause a drip every once in a while.

Also check the filler neck cap. It has two detents for closing. On my RS I had added some antifreeze and did not tighten it to the second detent and it would give a little antifreeeze drop here and there. It drove me nuts until I found it. When putting the cap on push down and twist and then do it again to be sure you cap is fully closed.

Thanks I will try both suggestions above. I really would like to resolve without dealer if possible. The dealer can't take us until the 18th.
