• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Another easy Ram mount mod for the RT

I hate to say it but many times when I'm stuck at a long light I like to check my email to see if there are any fires to put out. I don't answer emails while stuck at a light but I will pull over and deal with it if it need be. It was always a hassle to pull it out of my pocket and do that especially if the light changed while I was reading my email. I knew right where I wanted my iphone to mount and I had a pretty good idea how I was going to do it so today I decided to get it done and it was a pretty easy deal and works great.

First I took the cover off of the bottom on the handlebars. You'll need a M3 allen wrench to get the four screws out. Turn the bars all the way to the right to get good access to those. I also recommend you stuff a rag under the bar just in case you happen to drop one of those little boogers, they will fall in the black-hole. nojoke

Then you want to check for clearance before you drill your hole for the Ram Ball to mount. You can see where I drilled mine in the pics. I used a thread ball with M6 threads.

I drilled my hole and mounted the ball and put the cover back on and it works great. Now I can check my email if I need to and I can keep an eye on on the weather radar too, I'll use that a bunch for sure.

Here's the pics and hope it gives you some ideas. The skill level is pretty low for this mod.

I wouldn't put too much weight on this. I wouldn't even mount a cup holder on it as it is into plastic. It will do what I need to do just fine. :doorag:

Lamont, I can see a small TV screen for the right side hooked up to the mobile DirecTV dish on the rear....Your wife can serve dinner on the bike then. :roflblack:

Yea, nice set-up BTW

Thanks a bunch!!! Since mine is a SM-5, I did it on the right side of the handle bars! I ended up doing it yesterday, I'll post pictures later.

The only issue was reaching the screws near the center of the handlebar... needed to use one of the wife's small mirrors to get the holes of the screws with the allen wrench... what a pain! But once I got those everything else was a snap!:2thumbs:

I had a problem with access to those screws to get them started when reassembling after installing the hand brake - I finally got it using a torx tool made to fit into a screwdriver - I think that it was size T15 - it fit into the hex nuts perfectly.
