• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

An observation

I can't believe the number of RS's there are on E-bay! At darn good (for the buyer) prices too!! :yikes: I've even seen the RT 622 Trailer for under $2K - now if I could find a shipper for the trailer who wanted less than $1500.....

My real observation is that the Spyder has finally made the "mainstream" - not just hitting the "early adaptors". The down side (for those of us in the Great North Wet) is that the Spyder appears to be highly regionalized to the East and South - with a bit of California spillover. It's tough to see prices at 60% (or less) of MSRP, and any dealer within 500 miles wanting MSRP ++, or don't bother us....

Just an observation....

The prices you see on eBay are not the actual selling prices, just the original asking price (think advertising!) or the current bid. Many items have a reserve far above the initial listed price. To see what the actually selling price is, you need to search the completed auctions, or watch the bidding to the end.

:agree: They start low but the reserve price on them tend to be at around the MSRP for it. Some have a buy it now option which are around the value range and maybe a little more.

In this economy everyone is out to maximize their profit or minimize their loss .... so unless you run into a desperate seller and you got cash on hand, its likely that you won't get as good of a deal that you think you wpuld. That being said, it is the time to buy MC because this is the off season and pricing is a lot softer now than in spring.

This bike (2 years old going on 3) whole sale is about 7800 and I would not consider it a good deal unless its under 10K. Just my 2 cents.

I think $11.5 for an upgraded '09 with 1700 miles on the clock is a great deal...

I did see the "reserve not met" on the dealer listings, but still...........

$11.5K is a good price but that's the starting bid. Most bidders will wait for the last few seconds of the auction to place their bids in an attempt to get it at the lowest price. Currently there are 5 days left on the auction. However, if no one else bids you'll get it for $11.5.

Our local dealers are asking FULL retail for demo 2008 RS's... our CL ads have 2008's at $14+ AND, there are only one or two around......so perhaps there's a bit of perspective.

It might mean your region have less Spyder supply wise .... but these dealers sure aren't gonna move any 08 at full retails. That's why they still have them around.

I got my upgraded '08 in '08 with 1500mi for $10,700. Private sale, cash and carry. It's a pretty good deal but I have seen similar.

That price is 'okay', but it was only a few months ago we saw NEW 2009 from dealers for $13K ........ not sure if any of those still around.

It seems to me that there are a lot of people wanting to sell there GS to buy an RT since they are still so new but I am sure that will level out.

I agree with that...those who want to tour around the country more might want the additional comfort of the RT. For my riding, I prefer the sportier feel...I've also modified my bike a decent amount for more comfort, storage, etc...no need to trade in for a RT at this time...

Trade in a GS for less than 10K and pay up to almost 30K for an RT (which will instantly depreciate 5K as soon as you roll out the door) is not an easy decision in this economy. Won't be many lining up for this kind of deals.
