Amplifier

Seems that the FM radio on my -11 RT is better amplified than anything going through the jack in the back trunk ( in which my Zumo with mp3 & XM is plugged). If I put a small battery operated ampli (normally used for earbuds) in between the Zumo and the jack will it be better? Will it hurt anything?

Don't do that!!! You need a line driver but line drivers I am familiar with have RCA connection.
I use a line driver for my iPhone(my source of music) for that purpose, otherwise I have turn up the amp too high. Those gain controls on amp is not a volume control but controls sensitivity. Higher you have it set, more distortion you will get. I use RCA cable with 1/4" plug at the other end to connect to line driver/EQ. I own a rs with aftermarket amp.

You could use 1/4" plug to RCA adapters but don't know how much added noise you might get. That's two sets of adapters, 1/4" to RCA than line driver than RCA to 1/4".

Some company may make 1/4" jack line driver but not that I know of.

Thanks for the tip.....I thought it was too easy! So I have to incorporate a 4 lines amplifier "somewhere" in the system?...
