• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I posted a problem with my Spyder a few weeks back...Thanks to all who replied.
With no one in Hawaii to work on the bike and zero help from the company, I shipped my baby home.

Ten days and $1,200 later my Spyder arrived at RideNow in Peoria AZ
Two days and $190 later my bike is all cured and setting at my grandsons home with a "FOR SALE" sign on it.

Loved riding the Big Island...but it's not worth the risk.

Check out service before you start shipping your bike to exotic locations. Guess Ill by a Harley

Sad news..!!

sorry to hear you have to part company. Maybe some day they will get a dealership with techs on the Islands and you will return. In the meantime your still family here so keep us posted...

A real bummer for sure. After :spyder2: being on the market now since 2008, I am very surprised that no one picked up on a dealership.

Same issue with the rental :ani29: on Maui. No experts to work on it and by the time I rented in 2013, the :spyder2: I got was well worn.

Beautiful places to drive on all the Islands I have visited--albeit limited as far as miles and miles go.

Enjoy your HD. There are sure a lot of them in HI.

So sorry to hear you had to part with it. I understand, though, about not having someone to service it. Maybe someday Hawaii will enter the Spyderverse.

What was the issue? I'm on Kauai, waiting for my F3-S to ship (long story) I've got 15 years under my belt working On Nissan products so I'm not worried if something should come up.

I'm not doubting your skill level regarding something mechanical; but, I don't see how that would rollover into the electronics of the spyder? Good luck to your new ownership.

Simple, BUDS, factory service manuals and electrical testers are available. My experience with Nissan includes electrical systems diagnosis/trouble shooting as well as the mechanical aspect.

Sounds like he would have the market to himself.

I know there's currently a Spyder on the island but don't know which year or model. I spoke to the owner briefly at Young Brothers as I was waiting for a sectional couch I had ordered from Oahu. She was waiting for her Spyder to be offloaded but I never did get the chance to see it and I haven't seen her driving it around.

I may even invest in True Laser Track, just to be fully self sufficient on this tiny rock.

Spyders in Paradise!

My friend said that she knows the woman with the LT, but I haven't met or seen her. I'm here now, btw, with my 2011 LTD, although I've also run into mechanical issues and have been considering shipping it back to the mainland to sell it :gaah:

Which Island are you on? Kauai?

Oahu. Just updated my profile, hadn't been on the site for a couple of years. The main two things I miss about SoCal: good (and cheap) Mexican food and Spyder dealers!

But I'll bet you're enjoying the clean air and not having to worry about drought and fires.

I am really sorry,, but having been to Hawaii twice, I would not have anything bigger than a scooter. I loved the islands. Had a great time seeing things and going island to island. I fully understand you selling your Spyder. Even if there was a dealer on one island, it is only one island. I wish you the best. Loved the weather. I just need more space.
