Planning on taking a trip in June to Chicago and my wife said she could use a little more cushion to the stock 08 Spyder RS passenger seat. Has anyone ordered this cushion? and what size did you use for the passenger. I also have the stock backrest for her if that matters...Thanks

there are several threads about this cushion..it's worth every dollar i have one best investment for the money get the 200 one don't go with the cheaper one you'll regret it.i believe the med size one is the one you want..

So. What's wrong with the cheaper one?? Are you talking about thr airhawk 2??

Not sure that it's a "what's wrong with the cheaper one" as much as it is just made of lesser quality materials. The bladder is made of Neoprene on the Airhawk and Airhawk R but Polyurethane on the Airhawk 2. 3 year warranty on the neoprene units 18 months on the polyurethane and of course the polyurethane is half price of the other 2, you tend to get what you pay for.

More reported leaks in the polyurethane, its all on their web-site. I have the "R" can't leave home without it!

I have the original Airhawk and I was not impressed with it. Never got around to sending it back, though. I could never find the right pressure for my butt to be happy. My wife likes hers but rarely uses it.

Just a little to confuse the issue here :roflblack:

I have the original model. Have used it for two seasons now. No problems with leaks or slips for me. I had a hard enough time swallowing the $150 or so price, and the higher price one was even worse for me to comprehend.

When it is time for me to replace my current one--I will buy the improved model. It is supposed to have better ergos. You can look it up on their website. The information is a little bit of TMI--so I wont reprint it here. :roflblack:

just remember, no matter what model you get. you set in it , not on it or you may slide all around and not be happy.. so dont over inflate

I bought the "2" last month. Can't really see where the neoprene would ride or feel any different as they use the same cover. May not be as durable BUT it has a decent warranty. If you were unlucky enough to need the warranty period after 18 months you could still buy a 2nd "2", get another 18 months and still be cheaper than an "R".
Also, if you don't have any experience with riding on these, you risk less with the "2". What would Mr. Spock do?

Airhawk Cushion

There are several sizes on the Airhawk Cushions, however the Airhawk R comes in one size only and is probably the size for the Spyder driver's seat. It is made from rubber as compared to vinyl with the Airhawk 2. It feels much more durable and has a longer guarantee. I bought mine (Airhawk R) from Revzilla for $169.95 and free shipping with a no questions asked guarantee if a return is needed. The most important factor while sitting on it is too blow it up through the mouth valve then sit on it. Slowly turn the valve letting out just enough air so you're probably 1/8 - 1/4 inches off the seat. This is probably the best position giving you a really comfortable ride. I use mine when just riding around town or on all day riding trip. I only wish I had bought this cushion earlier. Great investment... I ride solo must of the time but I would say a small or medium cushion would be good for the passenger. To save a few bucks I would buy the Airhawk 2 for the passenger if you too ride mostly solo.
