• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

AirBag Motorcycle Jacket

This would be an awesome accessory for anyone out riding two three or four wheels...

The Airbag Jacket from Hit-Air might just save your life. The jacket hooks up to your bike and inflates instantly to cushion your fall in the case of an accident:

In the event of an accident and a rider is thrown from the motorcycle, the air cushion instantly inflates (within 1/2 second) to protect the rider’s body. Activation is simple and automatic. A coiled wire is attached to both the motorcycle and the jacket. Once the rider and the motorcycle are separated, the coiled wire pulls a “key” out of a gas release system and inert gas inflates the air cushion. The inflated jacket provides the necessary impact protection. After a few seconds the gas is automatically released through the gas release valve.

The jacket cost a bit over $400 (well worth it IMO). Hit-Air also makes a horseback riding jacket in case you’re into polo, foxhunting or other highfalutin equestrian pursuits (ed. note: I’m shocked that foxhunting doesn’t pass spellcheck but highfalutin does). The way cars drive around here they should make a bicycle or pedestrian jacket too- I’d buy one.

And what about that ONE time that you're in a hurry, and forget to unplug from the bike?

That was my first thought . . . first time I wore it, I'm sure I'd forget to unplug . . . just like with everything I've ever plugged in to a bike or trike the first time!!

It seems to answer my question about motorcycles and airbags. At least in this case, the airbag stays with the driver.

Always wondered about the airbags on the GW and how they would be helpful--since the occupants are usually ejected in any bad crash.

This will not work for me though, as I just don't like to worry about plugging in accessories. The same reason I don't own any heated gear.

If you forget to unplug it just pulls on your jacket- it wont fire unless you force it to as it takes a 20kg pull. My wife and I have used HitAir jackets for years now.

Never "used in anger" but good to know they are there.

And you won't bounce off down the road as it starts to deflate immediately after impact. I believe they are used by the Kokyo police and others around the world.
