• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Air Wings

Baker Built send me an e-mail telling me that their air wings for the RT are now done. They are accepting orders but do not expect to ship for about three weeks while they complete the brackets. Nothing on the cost or colors available. They claim that their wings will cool your feet between 10-15 degrees lower than the outside temperature. I've used them on all my Gold Wings. They work as advertised and the company is great to deal with.

When I was at SITs someone was mounting air wings to a bunch of RTs across from Smokies bar and pub !:dontknow:

I had the Baker Air Wings installed on my RTS at SITS. They work great. They were $175.00 installed.

I am hoping to order a set of Air Wings soon and would be interested in seeing a picture of the finished product mounted on your machine. If you can give us your initial impressions on their functionality that would be great.

Thanks

NS

Difficult to picture these "Wings" cooling your feet when your right foot is at the exhaust opening of the cooling fan?? :dontknow:

I had them installed at SITS and so far I really like them. We rode home Saturday evening from SITS going over Grand Father mountain at around 11:30 at night, I was wearing shorts and a pull over. With the Wings set to block air I could tolerate the outside temp and drizzle, my wife was bundled up pretty good. Today I rode the Spyder in to work, outside temp around 50 degrees with jeans a pull over and a duster and was comfortable:2thumbs:. I have not had a chance to really use during hot weather, but from playing around with them and can see that it is going to help when the hot weather rolls around again.

Baker Air Wings and Scuff Guards

We have ridden about 900 miles since last Weds from home in East Tennessee thru The Shenandoha Nat'l Park and The Blueridge Parkway. We still have a few days left and I swear the air wings and the scuff guards have been life savers. The airwings have made a drastic change for me on heat and cold and I find I ride without a jacket longer with the wings closed and they are wonderful when it gets hot allowing air on your legs! I am only 5' tall so I love the Scuff Guards too for stretching my legs out when riding.

The RT is doing wonderful and we are having a ball riding in this gorgeous weather. I ride the RT and my hubby rides a Harley and haules our 2 Shi Tzu mixes on his bike. They are having a ball too.

At night when we go to dinner since he has a dog carrier in place of a passenger seat I have to ride him on the RT since my seat is cut down and it is too tight for him to ride (hee hee!). Oh yes the Harley boys give him a bad time at the restaurant!

This is great to see so many have them. I know they work well on the "Wing". I want to put them on the RT, but not on the web site as of today.:dontknow: I be waiting  :ani29:

Wings on RS

Just mounted these today. I really like the fact they are clear. Doesn't distract from the machine. Scratch resistant to. Huge wind difference on my legs. Install took 15 minutes.

I am glad that you have a found an effective solution for you. Especially with the colder weather approaching.

Just wondering how much more drag these give. With the rotten fuel mileage I get, I couldn't stand much more loss. Having said that, I do like the looks and functionality of the wings.

I track every tank full, OCD:sour:, I have had no reduction in fuel milage. I would even say that the buffeting is the same and maybe just a llittle better.
Update on the wind protection, the coldest to date is 39 degrees short sleeved pull over, duster, jeans, gloves and half helmet I only had to add thin ear wraps. This is ryding 25 to 30 minutes to work going between 60 to 65 mph. I find that my feet stay warm resting on the wings and my legs are good because the Wings stop the air flow to them and my lower torso. I can see as the temp falls below the mid thirties I will need to add something additional for my upper body.
I hope to continue ryding as far into Winter as possible, so an electric vest at least if not some additional options are in my future.

I got mine installed at SITS and I can say this is one of the BEST Mods there are for the RT-S I ryde, Vents cool air towards me when needed and seems to vent away the radiator wash from right side of unit, and works opposite in removing cold night air when turned into Spyder. Best $180.00 I have spent so far!!!
