• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

AIR FILTERS... a real eye opener

I normally don't buy "hi-performance" airfilters, but the Spyder's airbox and the stock puralator filter are not a good match. I would rather have light or micro particualte matter flowing through a filter(which you can't avoid or else there is no airflow), then granular sand and worse being sucked around the edges and ruining the engine. I still recommend the Kens Filter over the stock any day. All little filters work hard and have very little suface area to displace the particulate matter and they clog quick. To get real long lasting performance, you would really need to have an airbox the size of the spyders trunk with a filter to match so there is a very large surface area. You could have a very tight filter when it's that size but once again with all the surface area for the air to process through, the drag on the engine will be minimal, but who wants their trunk to be an airfilter. Maybe they will start adding water washing air intakes to vehicles like those rainbow vacuum cleaners.

AMTJIM... what I was suggesting everyone look at is the amount of trash that actually gets through a lot of the expensive filters. I've never seen a manufacturer installed filter that really does a superior job. The GL1500 and GL1800 does a very good job but at the cost of running a wee bit rich and getting the oil dirty to quick. On my GL1500, granted two wheels but the principle still applies, Honda paper filter dirtied the oil pretty good by 1800 miles. Installed a K&N and the oil stayed pretty clean right up to change time. Re-tried the paper Honda same thing happend again. Lot of varibles on this but I always ride on the blacktop or cement and there isn't much construction in my area and when I remove the filters they are still relatively clean. The K&N does seem to lean it out to the point that it will nose over at 85 to 90. This would seem to be that it flows the air a little to good.

Just got back with the SE5... now I am forced by the "fairness doctrine" to take the GL1800 for a spin. Ain't the "fairness doctrine" just great?
