• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Air filter change

So i finally got the courage and time to do my first oil change on my 2012 RSS with successful results, :2thumbs: Now i feel like replacing the air filter is due. I tried looking up how to videos on YouTube and there seems to be none for my model spyder. Does anybody have any suggestions or step by step instructions on how to replace the air filter? Thanks everyone!:thumbup:

Not to bad a job....

On the GS/RS/RSS/ST it is much easier than other models. can be done with just removing the two upper side panel (the top one helps too) and disconnecting the vent hose and then releasing the clips around the box. You can then remove the top part to get to the filter. There may be a zip to cut and some wiring to move a bit and it will take a shove and tug to get it out.

I did it on my 09 and your 12 should be exactly the same. Everything changed in 13.

It's been so long ago and memories fade. You need to take panels off both sides. Unsnap the spring clips all the way around holding the top of the breather box on. I believe there is a hose that needs to be disconnected as well. Then you have figure out how the maneuver the breather box top out in the tight space. It does come out. Don't remember which side. I got the replacement filter at my local NAPA dealer. There will be some oil in the breather box too. Clean that all out.

I have not looked but there should be a detail procedure in the service manual. If you don't have one. A digital version is not very expensive.

Although a few folks here say K & N filters are JUNK …. I have used them on every veh. I have owned in the past 60 years …… good luck …. Mike :ohyea:
