Adjusting Rally Rear Shock

Bought the suggested tool for adjustment still can't figure out where the space indicated in manual is supposed to be. Has anybody adjusted this and has a "live" picture where their measuring the space from and what direction the rings turn.

I would agree, the manual is worthless and makes no sense in adjusting the Rally Shock and where you measure from and to. My threads also have like a snap ring around them also does yours have that? The rings obviously turn to the right to increase preload. I do believe the second ring is just a locking mechanism for the other ring. But still, where do you measure from and to? I don't get it either.
