? about Sena

more specifically about the SMH10-11. I was curious if anyone here has used this model or not? I know about the SMH10 but since we have modular helmets (the wife's being a Nolan 104) I was afraid that the SMH10 might be a problem.

there is a video out there of a someone who has a Nolan 104 and he had to cut away just a small section for it to fit. i am not too crazy about taking a dremel tool to a new helmet. it looks like there is a bit more flexibility with the SMH10-11 unit. i just wish it had had the FM unit built into it.

Sena SMH10

I got the Sena SMH 10 as a present for Christmas. I also happen to have the identical helmet in the video, a Scorpion modular. On that helmet the Sena clamp worked fine on the helmet. The boom mike will swing in and slightly under the chin when the helmet is closed. There is some road noise but I think that happens with any system. I noticed my helmet has a notch on the left side for a boom mic on the inside of the helmet, for the boom mike on a tether, such as the SMH10-11. So far it has worked well, as an intercom, for the GPS and the cellphone, with about 8 hours of use. I did not have to do any cutting or dremel tool work, the speaker wires snake under the edge of the helmet pad and the Velcro attachments for the speakers are very secure.

I don't know about the Nolan, but I have an AGV Modular, Bell Full, and a 3/4 helmet, and the clamps work perfectly on all three. Sena also includes double-sided tape for those who would rather go that route, but I can't imagine that you would have a problem. I will say that Sena is the best wireless headset I've ever owned. I have the optional clamps that allow you to plug in in-ear headphones (which give the best sound), and the clamps are made of metal. You can't go wrong with Sena.

From what I've been told about the newer Nolan helmets, Nolan went out of their way to make installation of anything other than their N-Com sets very hard to install on their helmets. I've had some Nolan helmets, and liked them, but if this is the case, I'll buy something else.

My wife has the Nolan N103 modular helmet, which is very close in design and build to the N104 and we installed the Sena on it with no difficulty. I just had to move the base slightly on install to accomodate the cut-out for the factory Nolan comm system. No problem and works just fine.

The difference between the SMH10-10 and the SMH10-11 is the SMH10-10 has a fixed mic.
the SMH10-11 has 2 mic's you can mount where you want them it is made for the modular
and full face helmets the boom mic is on the inside of the face shield not on the outside
if you use the SMH10-10 on a modular helmet you may not be able to get the mic close enough
to your mouth so people can hear you.
