• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. A Question for Spyder Owners

Thanks for the replies. I feel much better about a Spyder now. I think the next step is to talk to the fine folks at PitBull in Springfield.

I've never had a "code" or been stranded by my '11 RT-AC. I have had some problems, but all were fixed by my (extremely good) dealer and I haven't had any problems for quite awhile.

And again, the problems I had never stranded me or threw me a code.

I have a 2012 rs and we have put 12000 miles on it and have not had any problems. I am so glad we ended up with the spyder..... I know its not the 20 plus you were looking for but you can't go wrong getting one!!:doorag:

Man, most of the issues people have with the spyder are due to how the spyder is setup. There are exceptions to this for sure and if you are going to Pitbulls, you are starting at the right place. I had a HD electra glide classic that before of March 2010, I would not have dreamed of getting rid of...especially for a 3 wheeler. At the end of March 2010, I was injured in a major auto accident that caused me to re think that. The week I got out of the hospital, I sold my beloved Harley. Six months later I bought a spyder and never looked back. I have trouble walking, let alone holding up a 2 wheeler. Now, I love the spyder...

Well Howdy again Cowboy, I posted above but I never told you about my own experience. I am a newbie too, but in 3-1/2 months I've put 4256 miles on my 2012 RT SE5 with no problems. It's a blast, a real fun machine, and I'm betting you will love them just as much as I do.

Why, just this week I beat the pants off an HD in a short, friendly drag race, and that was really fun. I don't know how your Harley would step out, but you'll be well pleased with the spyder performance once you get it broken in.

As you can tell by my post count, I'm brand new to the forum. Due to health concerns, I find myself in the market for a 3-wheeled machines. My last 2-wheeler was a Harley-Davidson touring model that gave me 27,000 trouble-free miles. I've been intrigued by the Spyder since they were first introduced.

Reading some of the posts on this forum, it seems the Spyder is prone to throwing codes and going into "limp home" mode. I'm especially concerned by the number of these incidents given the relatively small number of Spyders out there.

So here's my question: Have any of you ridden your Spyder for 25-30,000 miles without throwing a code, going into limp mode, or being left stranded on the side of the road?

Please understand, I'm not trying to bash the Spyder. My wife has said she'd ride with me if I got one. However, a couple of incidents where we have to be transported to a dealer hundreds of miles from home would eliminate her willingness to ride with me on a Spyder. So some honest answers would really be appreciated.

(spyderyderjim), I had 22,000 trouble free miles on 2011 Spyder RT SE5 A&C. Rode 1,300+ miles from Tucson, Arizona to buy 2013 Spyder RT-S SE5 blue Lamonster Spyderfest Special from Len April 16, 2013!!! (total 3,680 trouble free miles trip). You are so blessed to live close to Len, to have your new Spyder set up correctly, (2 Brothers muffler recommended)!! Enjoy your 2013 Spyder RT (S, or Limited) SE5 with many, many trouble free miles with your wife!!!
P.S. you may have trouble getting your helmet off from the ear to ear grin while riding, ha; (Hwy 125 Mo). Enjoy. Jim (Arizona)

Have had one code on wifes 2010 RTS. That was brake failure. The Spyder was still drivable. Dealer changed brake fluid and haven't had any further issues. She has 11,500 miles on it. I have a little over 5,000 on my 2012 RTS, no problems. I might also add, both of ours are SM5 manuals. Most folks on here have the SE5.

Absolutely! I live about 10 miles from MO 125 and have ridden it many times on my H-D. Looking forward to doing it on a Spyder.
