• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

... to change the oil on his 2012 RT SE5. I've changed the oil on my 2010 RT SM5 once so he thinks I'm an expert!! I'm not an expert but I will tackle the easier maintenance stuff. And I am glad to help him. I have found info on this site and a y-tube video. But I see that someone mentioned ALLEN rather than TORX for filters and drain plugs. Can anyone tell what size I will need to do the oil change? Didn't find specific mention of sizes. I have the pdf from brp (for 2011 I think) describing the process with pictures but I don't see specific wrench sizes mentioned. I don't want to mess up a buddy's bike. Thanks
Jim

Filter bolts use 5mm hex bit sockets. Drain bolts can be either 6mm hex or T45 Torx. You will have to look. There are a mix over the years and many bikes have one of each.

Do not use the L shaped allen keys on any of them, you will strip or break things. You need hex bit sockets and a ratchet. Do one filter at a time as the bolts look similar but are different lengths.

Little checking..

Some have one plug in an allen and one in a torx. Mine had both allen before I changed them for regular bolt heads. You do have the two filters and I recommend that you do one at a time fully...pull the cap remove the filter and clean area and install new filter and the cap. The filters have different bolt length and are easy to confuse and the results are broken bolts or stripped out cases..as for size the allen is 6mm and the torx I believe is a 35....someone can confirm that that has that type...

With either the Allen head bolt or the Torx bolt be sure to make sure your wrench is fully seated in the bolt head. These give a false signal sometimes so wiggle them a little and continue to push up. This will insure that you don't stripe out the torx/allen head.If you decide to change your drain bolts to socket head bolts order them from Value Accessories,a sponsor here. You will need a 12mm and a 14mm.
