• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

4,800 MILE ODESSEY....

Been meaning to post this before now...I joined four Harley friends on June 10 for a 13 day 4,800 mile jaunt from Atlanta to Montana and points in between. Have posted a few pics in a new album... hope you enjoy it. We visited all of Black Hills attractions and then to Devil's Tower, Little Big Horn, Red Lodge, Bear Tooth highway, Cody, Yellowstone, Chief Joseph Highway, Wind River Canyon. At Yellowstone, waited an hour and half for Old Faithful to be faithful only to find out we were looking at the wrong smoking hole, Crossed the Big Horn Range, Bear Tooth range, Snowy Mountains in Medicine Bow Range and, after others had gone their preplanned routes home, took blue highways avoiding interstates as much as possible. Went through a part of the Ozarks, saw Dogpatch, Missed Lil' Abner, Pappy and Mammy but made lunch of (oops...with) Daisy Mae, got wet twice, had superior dealer service at Cheyenne, wy to deal with loose sway bar, oil leak and computer updates, found out that all the old cars and trucks abandoned out West will stay there as they are a part of the owners, found out all roads in Nebraska and Kansas run north/south and east/west, most small towns have only one paved road, the one going through, Kansas still has the best steaks, had a lady in Kansas say she was about to buy a spyder now that her husband (bless his heart) had passed she was ready to have some fun, had an hour long discussion with elderly black man at Memphis gas station on the stupidity of racial tensions (we both agreed) and how America should be working toward better economic conditions, found out that once the gas guage loses its last bar you can stiill go more than 25 miles, had a good looking blond in Birmingham weave beside me between two red lights and on the second one pass her phone # and a smile, got only slightly sunburned, saw only two other spyders and had a helluva trip....

Awesome..!!

you really did have an amazing adventure traveling the highways and byways of this wonderful land. Where to next..?? :ohyea:

That sounds like a wonderful trip. I want to do a major road trip someday. I'm happy to hear about yours.

I also like hearing about people's impressions of places, especially Kansas. Yes our roads mostly all run N-S-E-W. I never understand how people get lost here!:dontknow:

I'd love to see your pics.

I drove through Kansas about 10 years ago when I was moving back from LA to DC. Took all backroads in a pickup packed with my stuff. I learned that the popular conception of Kansas as being flat and boring is all wrong-- I found it to be an absolutely beautiful trip. And yeah, I remember the steaks as being first-rate.

Now, driving through *Iowa*, however... :barf::joke:

At least it's not like Illinois. Every time I pass through there I fear either for my life or my liberty.

I used to live in Manhattan, KS and it was anything but flat. Rock slides could be a problem on the east side of town if we got a good rain.

My wife taught at the Washington grade school in Junction City for about 6 years in the 80's.

It's just as hard to find a good road in Northern IL unless you head to the west side of the state. Southern IL has some very nice areas like Garden of the Gods.

I deleted my reply. I decided not to paint all of IL with a broad brush just because one SL member is rude.

No worries! I think every post from that member is negative.

I did get to ride around the area south of Manhattan north and south of I-70 last labor day weekend. I ran into Webweaver who lives about a 1/2 mile from my old house.
