• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Gates open at 10 am at South Sound Center, by Sears, and ride starts at 1pm. cost, one unwrapped toy, or $15 single rider, and $20 for a couple.

Meeting Location & Times for the Olympia Toy Run

Hey folks, this is Joe/Wukka...Sorry for being a little slow on the response...

YES, there is a meeting place for the Olympia Toy Run!

The ideal place to meet up (I believe that it has been already proposed in another post) is the McDonalds in South Tacoma. It's right where Hwy 512 meets I-5, has a big parking lot and is easy on/off of I-5.

Starting Location:
McDonalds
10417 Pacific Highway Southwest
Tacoma, WA 98499

Location: http://goo.gl/maps/1ZUyz

Time:
9:00AM - 9:30AM

From there, we'll ride about 20 minutes to the South Sound Center parking lot where everyone is collected for the big parade/ride. We'll leave the McDonald's around 9:45 AM and get there a couple minutes after the gates open.

Destination:
South Sound Center Shopping Mall
Sears Parking Lot
711 Sleater-Kinney Road SE
Lacey, WA
(Exit 108 on the south side of I-5)

Location: http://goo.gl/maps/w8QKp

All you need to bring is a NEW, UNWRAPPED TOY *OR* $10 Donation (Single) / $15 Donation (Double)

The web site for the toy run is: http://olytoyrun.com/
The route taken is: http://olytoyrun.chrome-horse.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/route2011-1024x398.jpg

Schedule is:
10:00 am – Gate Opens
11:00 am to 12:30 pm – Performers
1:00 pm – Ride leaves from South Sound Center in Lacey

MY TIP:
After doing this ride for 4 years, I can tell you that you should DRESS WARMLY, WEAR COMFORTABLE/WARM WALKING SHOES, BRING SNACKS and DRINKING WATER or a WARM BEVERAGE.

And finally, although the organizers DISCOURAGE bringing candy for the kiddies, this is A PARADE and the children do have a certain expectation - so it is up to you. ;)

Thanks Joe for information, that is where I thought everyone was going to meet from the other post but I just wanted to make sure.

Another Great Toy Run!

Although the chance of rain deterred a few riders from participating in this event, it was another tremendous run. A count of how many rigs were in this year's parade has not been published, but it was definitely down from last year.

I met Spyderman at the McD's and we rode to the shopping mall parking lot. He recently upgraded from his Blue RS to an awesome White RT-S. There were a few Spyders that came in before/after us, and the unofficial count of Spyders there was 8 or 9. But we did represent!

A really good article about the event can be found here:

HOWDY WUKKA!

Looks like you took that picture from the lift they had out in the parking lot. Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, everyone I talked to had a good time. Lots of donated toys to put smiles on kids faces!
