• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2014 RTL Horn and ALS not working

CURLIN

I just replaced my air compressor with a Viair compressor. The compressor worked for my test ride, but the next time I started the Spyder neither the horn or compressor worked. I checked the 20 amp fuse for the horn and it is still good. The horn wiring is also connected to a 12V 30A relay (pictured)that I believe also goes to the air compressor. I have not had the time to trace the air compressor wiring to see if there has been a wire cut or any other damage. I have also added air through the schrader valve to make sure the system is pressurized. The instrument panel does show that I can adjust the ALS, but nothing happens when I try to make the adjustments. I am including a pic of the 30 amp relay (I cannot locate a BRP part number for the relay.)

I know on 2010 to 2012, if the horn or compressor does not work it usually is the fuse. The air compressor you put in does draw more current. Search you tube for videos from " you own it" he has a video about the replacement compressor blowing fuses. He ended up installing an OEM compressor. Bruce

Here's a video showing how to install a relay for the compressor. I tapped into the compressor wire behind the fuse box. You can also tap at the compressor itself. Mine was done on a 2011, so the fuse boxes are different than yours.

I would take the suspected RELAY to an Auto parts store, they can probably match it ... 12 v. relays are pretty much the same , except for the rating of the relay .... good luck .... Mike

Unlikely the relay is bad unless the compressor runs through it, which seems very unlikely since the horn would sound each time the compressor ran.

Replace the fuse with a known good fuse. Sometimes fuses fail and not be visible or when checked with a meter will check good, but can not carry the load.
