I bought my Spyder used (4,700) miles about 8 weeks ago. Now have 7,800 miles. I love this bike and should have gone to 3 wheels a long time ago.
I have two issues that I simply can not figure out. Please some advice is needed.
1). Every tank of gas or ever other tank, for the first 20-25 miles the Spyder runs rough. Thought it might be the air vent in the gas cap. So when it went rough I simple opened the cap (have a Corbin RT seat with the fuel flap so easy to open while moving) this made no difference. The I thought maybe I have some water in the bottom of the tank that gets moved around when I fill the thank, so ran a couple bottles of dry gas into it. No Help.
Then I thought it may be the injectors for some odd reason, a couple of bottles of injector cleaner, no help. I always run Hi-Test and if it is not BP it is Sunoco. I avoid the dingy low rent gas stations and stick with the major ones that have a lot of business. I am thinking to have bad gas every fill up or every other fill up is just to weird. I am due for a service in 1200 miles, but if it were "service" related that should have been corrected before I bought the bike as it did have a full service at 4,500 miles. Does anybody have any ideas on what may be causing my Spyder to run rough as heck for the first 20-25 miles on a fill up?
Got the special Laser alignment done and it made one heck of a difference. Not only in stability and much less side to side motion but it improved the braking stability big time. That is not an issue just thought I would toss that in, to anybody thinking about the alignment.....just do it, I promise your will be glad you did.
2) Second issue is that I want to mount some fog lights to the inside of the front fenders so that the lights turn with the wheels. I have seen a couple round styles I like. These come from Advanced Auto and they are do it yourself kits. I priced a set of lights from a well know Can Am Spyder light company but with labor I would be at $440. While I like the lights, I don't like them that much. So.....if anyone has done an install of your own fog lights could you help me out with any advice on this kind of project?
Been lurking around this site for a bit, but I think this may be my first post.....
Thanks ya'll and see you in the wind,
