2010 vs 2011 RT-622 Trailer

Howdy,

I am trying to determine why my 2011 RT-622 trailer does not have amber turn signal lights like the 2010 models did. I inspected the taillights last night and found that there is a socket and plug where the bulb would go, but the hole where the bulb fits is covered with a silver film. The socket comes out as expected. The socket wires have been cut.

Could someone please take some pictures of their 2010 taillight wiring so that I can compare? I have looked at the BRP microfiche and the taillight assembly looks the same for 2010 vs 2011 but I noticed that the wiring assembly may have changed.

I would really like to have my 2011 trailer taillights match the 2010 RT taillights (I want blinking amber lights instead of blinking red on the trailer).

I am curious when you put your RT in reverse, does the 2010 trailer have white lights too?

I took some pictures last night, but did not have time to pull them from the camera today.

The 2011 trailer does not have the amber turn signals the 2010 trailer did. Neither ever had the backup lights, they just use the same taillight assembly as the RT. The wiring harnesses are different for the two models, but the parts fiche, or at least the drawings, do not appear to be completely accurate.

Scotty,

Thanks for the information. On the 2010 model, aren't there two bulbs (one above and below the red LED section)? If so, would I be correct in assuming that one of them is not used, but there only for cosmetic reasons?

Sure wish I knew why BRP changed this. Maybe to conform to other country's DOT requirements. :dontknow:

It didn't take me long to notice the difference in the taillights. These kind of things bug me. I love symmetry. :p

I believe both bulbs on the 2010 are used as amber turn signals, but I could be wrong. My memory has failed me before.

I don't know if the change was in response to regulatory requirements, a response to several blown RT trailer modules, or a desire to make the RT-622 easier to market to conventional motorcyclists/motorists. It bugged me too, but I have decided not to change it.

Amber trailer signal lights

I just picked up my RTS yesterday after having the hitch installed and buying the trailer. I agree that i think it would look better if the ambers would flash and match the 2010 RTs . i would have thought the 10 trailer would match up with the 10 RT lighting. (the bulbs are in the sockets of the trailer but all of the braking and turn functions are on the red leds).
