• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Hello everyone! My wife and I have waited 7 years to be able to purchase a Spyder. Life has gotten in the way. Were close to pulling the trigger and I think I know every Spyder in the northeast on craigslist. I have found two that were interested in and need some input if I could ask. Is there a big difference between 2009 and 2010 model years for an RS. I know know if we selected an SE5 I would go with newer model. So one is a 2009, 14900 miles, sound system w/ amp, tall windshield, voo doo exhaust, corbin seats with backrest (excellent condition asking $9800). The other is a 2010, 10,000 miles, custom black gloss paint (beautiful), two brothers exhaust, backrest, and includes stock exhaust. We are excited as we have had a lot of loss in the past three years and its time to spend some quality time together. Thanks, Todd

Let's see....

Faithful as too...? I am a RS ryder till one of us is done in...:joke: If you are asking for us to choose it will be tough. The GS 2009 is a great machine and many are happily running around today. The RS 2010 replaced the GS in name only is trustworthy as well. Shopping around you will find similar pricing for even newer models but as it is a budget concern I like the RS 2010 for it has less miles a bit newer and less mods giving you more room to make it yours your way. Get the vin#'s and have them checked out at the dealer in your area for work done or needed.. happy shopping....

Thanks for the reply. The bikes are about 4 1/2 hours away so trying to weigh options in my mind. Its fun though. We will figure it out. Cant wait. Thanks again!

GS and RS models have had pretty good reputations mechanical wise. The prices you mentioned seem a couple K high for the years mentioned, but that is a negotiation thing and your call--depending on the actual :spyder2:

I have almost 50K miles on the RS's and never had major issues. The 2009 started out with a bad computer and the dealer replaced it under warranty at 1500 miles. No additional problems after that one glitch.

Just a thought: If you are buying from a private party, rather than a dealership, make sure they have the title. I know it is different in each state, but if there is a lender involved, the seller won't have the title until the debt is paid. If you are traveling 4 1/2 hours, you want to know up front that you can complete the deal and not waste your time. Of course, I speak form experience. :O

You might also want to consider a newer bike from a dealership. Check out their used Spyder collection and make a low ball offer. You might wind up with a gem at a reasonable price. It's always worth the try. Some dealerships don't like to see used bikes sitting around too long.

Hi 2008 GS SE5. Extremely reliable, own it 7 years. Love it. I prefer the SE5 but that's up to you.
Good Luck!!

Thanks everyone for replies. Might have found one a hell of a lot closer here in Vermont. Will let you know. Would love to keep the business close to home. Really good dealer has it and I think that goes a long way. We shall see what the wife has to say about it. Hope it gets warmer soon. Im so done with this rain snow crap.
