• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2008 or 2009 and warranty question

Cuold anyone tell me if there's any difference in 2008 models and the 2009 models.

Also what is a good average price for the extened warranty?

Not much difference between the 08 and 09 except for a very few, minor cosmetics.... and, a second generation Gear Position Sensor... now a "fix" for 08 owners who complain about its effects, if bad.

Extended BEST (not Best Plus) warranty for three additional years will run you about $900-$1,000, minimum. Last year, the dealer's cost for that was $547... this year it's up in the $800-$900 range.

ATA and I agree...get the BEST warranty and be hassle free for 5 years...add to that roadside pickup...very nice!

We got BestPlus for $1300 per Spyder. I am so glad we did, as mentioned piece of mind for 5 years on a brand new product.

Local FL dealer just quoted the following BEST prices

2+1 years = $499 + tax
2+2 years = $649 + tax
2+3 years = $849 + tax

You have 60 days from the purchase of the bike to get these prices. Currently, there's a $75 / year upcharge if you purchase after 60 days but before 2 years.

The wife didn't get it on her '08 SE5 we picked up last week but we will purchase the 2+3 package before the 60 days is up. Too many unknowns with the SE5 and it's fully transferable.

BTW, the dealer didn't recommend BEST Plus. He said not all dealers are obligated to honor the Plus part of the warranty so if you move or are on a road trip when you need scheduled service you may be SOL.
