1st Annual Art Wood Memorial Canyon Cruise
Saturday October 15th, 2016
Be at Berts 9am depart on cruise at 10am
1151 N Azusa Ave Covina
This would have been Berts Mega Malls Canyon Cruise VII
which usually took place in Aprill -May however we lost the man in charge of the event Art Wood
who appeared on Spyderlovers with the handle" AWOOD"
The person responsible for giving us such a great time once a year with a Canyon Cruise.
You want to remember that back in 2010, the first year for the touring version
of the Can-Am Spyder get togethers were far and few between. There weren't
too many riders either. But the machines we rode were great for long hauls or
inclement weather. However the GS and RS spyder were superior in the canyons.
Hence many of us beefed up our RTs with aftermarket shocks and sway bars.
I remember going to Berts to install my new after market shocks.
In fact when I first got my RTS premiere edition back on the 9th of January,
3 days later a devastating earthquake occurred in Haiti. Many people stepped
up to help including Harley Davidson of Glendale CA. and Berts Mega Mall
teamed together to put on a ride for the victims of Haiti. The event that day
brought showers that perhaps kept some 2 wheelers at home, but we still
had celebrities show up for the press on hand and here are a few photos.
This is where I became familiar with the incredible facility at Berts
Even had one of these on the Ride 4 Haiti
But from this event, discovered the largest Can-Am Spyder facility on the West Coast
For the first event and many after all participants received a free t-shirt, and either
lunch up in the mountains at Crystal Lake or back at Berts.
by my second or third Canyon Cruise I put together a small trailer with an iMovie
program to create excitement for the following year. I was and still am an amateur,
but Art loved it and emailed me to do another project for him, which I accepted with
lots of help. here is that trailer that caught his eye.
The reason I mention this is there is much footage to find & put together in honor of Art Wood.
Hope everyone that met or knew Art can attend, and those that want to hear what a
nice upbeat person he always was to everyone he came in contact with, please come. I spent today
reading about his life from his Facebook page and those that commented on what an extraordinary
human being , he touched so many lives. I even read posts from Lamont and from WestCoast Spyders ,
SanDiego SRA and the Celebration of Life that I missed at Berts in the middle of August.
There will be information to follow
shortly.
