• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

16" wheel users?

Hey all,
Looking to upgrade my wheels in the semi-near future.Looking at Slingmods/and or PPA for wheels. I see they have 16" wheels. Anyone here running 16" front wheels with the 15" rear? I know Martin does, but anyone else. Any ride or handling detriments? Codes with the increased wheel size? Likely gonna stay with 15"s but thought I'd get some input from (any) 16" wheel/tire users. Nothing wrong with being informed :)

Dang ... No one other than Martin? I've been messaging back/forth with Sean at PPA regarding the 16" wheel. Other than aesthetics of a bigger wheel, he said handling could be improved due to the lower 50mm sidewall height. They recommend a Federal 165/50-16. Hell, the only 165/50R16 tires I can find are either a federal Formoza or Achiless Economist. Obviously, some of the additional height is offset by my current 60mm Vredestein. Detriment could be lower sidewall height when it comes to potholes. $400 for 15"s versus $640 for 16"s/tires. Leaning to the 15"s but we shall see ????

Regarding " handling & lower sidewall height " ..... I agree that " lower sidewall height " should provide better or crisper handling. But for Spyders which have stability control .... Ultimate handling cannot really be achieved because the Nanny will over-ride your ability to achieve Ultimate traction . In turns once your " G " force exceeds what the VSS is set for, the Nanny will adjust and prevent you from increasing your speed ..... The downside of a " lower sidewall height " is loss of Ride comfort. The tires and the PSI you are using are part of the suspension system. I believe most folks here are using Auto tires now, and because Spyders don't come close to exceeding the weight carrying ability of any Auto tire. Sidewall height and the PSI used are critical to maintaining comfort and the amount of WET road traction the Spyder will have .... Mike ......
