• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking at an '09 RS SM5 - are they Reliable & Easy to work for DIY repairs & maintenance? What about Electronics?

I have a 12' RS I bought new in '12. It has just over 30k miles on it now and has been one of the most reliable bikes I've ever owned. Typical servicing and fairly easy to work on once you have pulled the plastic panels a few times. The electronics are actually super simple. Don't sweat BUDS...

    Canisterectomy

In theory, yes, blocking off the purge will richen things up. But remember there is the O2 sensor monitoring as well to lean it back out.

    Nitrous on Spyder

Hey Mike, Ours was tuned by a guy who has helped us with our Seadoo tuning in the past. Not really looking to sell as he is not in that business. He had never done a spyder. Its based off a modified RSVR map but designed to bring more torque at the lower revs as well as pulling out the EPA...

    Nitrous on Spyder

Don't over think it. Your not burning the motor down on a dry 20 shot. We did one years ago and I'm fairly sure the guy still rides it. We set it up on a WOT switch. Stock the bikes run low 12's AFR at WOT. We were seeing 13's with gas. Better control when first hitting if you bypass the...

    NY International Motorcycle Show

Motorcycle Mall was there but they brought Aprilias and MV Agusta instead. Surprised Can-Am was a no show.

    Snowmobile trailer for hauling

Most snowmobile trailers are 1500lb trailers. Distance doesn't mean anything. Make sure your bearings and tires are in good order and have a safe trip. You'll have to figure out your ramp situation. The convex aluminum ramps do the job. Cut down the middle ramp for the back wheel to help...

    DIY tire replacement

I bought a No-Mar changer late last year. I did the hitch mount setup and have probably done about a dozen various tires and wheels...including the Spyder. It is worth every penny. Tire shops around here are more likely to damage wheels and could care less. The people at No-Mar are also...

    Pivot Nut Tool

Look for the FR-6 tool for BMX bikes. About $15 or so.

    Front fender support

A new one is only $50. Probably quite a few used ones on eBay too. I have at least 2 sets of 11'-12' fenders in our shop storage but I'm away/back and forth in Monaco until after the race at the end of next month. If you still need one then I can see if I can dig them up?

Where have you put your EZ Pass?

I don't even mess with a transponder on any of my bikes anymore. As long as the bike and plate are registered on your account with EZPass it's a non-issue. Just roll right through...

    Good helmet lock

I use an inexpensive short bike lock and lock it to the bike through the chin bar. Usually, leave the helmet sitting on the seat and the lock through the grab handles. I don't want to come out to a missing helmet with a short section of strap remaining hooked to my bars.

To Get Valves Adjusted or Not on 998?

Pulled mine apart to check this past winter with 13k on it. The valves were still well within specs. It's hit or miss. Fyi, tight valves typically cause hard starts....

    ST-S Fluids question

Your dealer is a moron if they cannot tell the difference between fuel and coolant. That is a coolant leak and I don't believe for a second they pressure tested the system. Probably good they didn't pull the bike apart. It can be from one of the clamps near the radiator/thermostat, from the...

998 Oil Filter cover stripped bolt

If you didn't want to mess with inserts you could tap the holes to 1/4x28 or even 20. It's only slightly larger, but smaller than m7. If it's an SE machine this would also benefit as there would be no way in the future to mix up the bolts.

998 Oil Filter cover stripped bolt

I was the one who recommended that repair, and would still stand by that recommendation and would have no issues doing it to my own spyder. The catch is that the repair has to be done correctly. Botch it up and the cover will come loose....Obviously. Good luck! I don't see any reason that...

    D P S Llight is on

Try disconnecting the battery and letting it sit a bit. Then connect everything back up. Make sure the bolts are tight. See if the light resets from there. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Is this normal for a front Pulley/Sprocket?

I'd swap that bolt ASAP, torque to spec and mark it. It's like $10 It could be a faulty made bolt, but could also be twisted, or beginning to shear. It's no good any way you look at it. If it still wobbles, then you know you've got bigger problems, but I'd start with the bolt. Sent from my...
