• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Random thought for the day

It looks like it has a pretty small color palate. That helps a lot.

Can the USB 2.0 port on my 2024 S2S be Upgraded to USB 3.0 and higher?

That article about USB is great. But it covers the data aspects and doesn't talk much about charging. Most modern smartphones implement some version of QuickCharge. A QuickCharge charger will usually be marked with QC (e.g., "QC 3.0"). These charge at voltages higher than the USB standard 5V. I...

2024 Dash Display suddenly changing &/or freezing - anyone else? Any fixes?

The display froze up on mine a few days ago when I first turned on the key. The little video didn't play, and the warning screen did not appear; the screen just stayed blank. I turned the key off for a few seconds, then back on, and all was well.

How close are we to getting a 2024 shop manual?

The service manual package for the 2024 Spyder RT is finally available from brpmanuals.com. I just downloaded it; and it looks pretty good.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I reinstalled the right side panel on my 2024 Spyder RTL, this time the right way. When I put it back on last fall after wiring my GPS to the auxiliary 12V connector, I didn't get it hooked back in correctly at the front edge. I noticed it a few weeks ago when I was just looking over the bike in...

Has anyone given their Spyder a "Name"???

My red 2024 RTL is named Ruby.

This one is really fun if you create an HTML page using it as the background image and set the attribute to tiled.

Maybe put that old HP HD into an external enclosure and plug it in to your new Ubuntu machine?

Daylight Saving Time - Make sure to adjust your Spyder clocks - Spring Ahead!

Yeah, I have a Casio quartz watch that is about that good. And it cost me a LOT more than BRP paid for the clock in the Spyder. Digital clocks typically use a quartz crystal oscillator. It's pretty easy to get +/- 20 ppm at room temperature out of these. But over the temperature range that is...

HowTo: Setting the front tire pressures equally each side.

The paper book that came with my 2024 RT LTD says to check the sticker on the inside of the left service panel. Take that with a grain of salt, because my paper book seems to get confused about left and right on a regular basis (e.g., it says the brake fluid reservoir is behind the left panel).

CAUTION - RTL Brake calliper bolts are recommended One Time Use only!

It turns out I was over-thinking this. The screw is a "Scotch Grip", meaning it has that yellow locking agent on it. This is why the screw is one-time-use. I doubt the screw is TTY. I'm going to do what @BajaRon said: clean the threads on the old screw, and re-use it with some blue Loctite.

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I woke her from her 4-month slumber and took her for a nice little hour-and-a-half ride.

CAUTION - RTL Brake calliper bolts are recommended One Time Use only!

Disclaimer: I'm an electrical engineer, not a mechanical engineer. But I believe there could be various reasons for designing in a TTY bolt. The reason for using one in a brake caliper is probably different than the reason for use in an engine. In a brake caliper it might be to maintain...

What did you do to your Spyder today?

I finished installing the TricLED Pannier Lights on my 2024 RTL. They are bright!

CAUTION - RTL Brake calliper bolts are recommended One Time Use only!

On stuff I've worked on, sometimes the repair manuals say use new bolts, most of the time they don't specify. In the former case I've used new bolts, in the latter I've just re-used them if they look okay. Examples of the former: camshaft cap bolts on my Honda CB900C, head bolts on a Ford 2.5L...

How do we add rider map to our Signature block?

Thanks for the link. And, I found that when I updated my signature with the map image link, the broken map.png link went away.

Can anyone recommend a TPMS system other than FOBO?

The T valve stems I use on my Beemer (and I will install on my Spyder) are metal. When I first installed the TPMS on my Beemer, I didn't have the T stems. Adjusting tire pressure was a real pain. After a year, I made it a point to install the T stems at my next tire change.

Can anyone recommend a TPMS system other than FOBO?

Yes, this unit has programmable alarms for high temperature, high pressure, and low pressure. The DEFAULT low pressure alarm is 27 PSI, but you can change it. If I end up installing one of these on my Spyder, I'll also install these T valve stems that I put on my Beemer...

Can anyone recommend a TPMS system other than FOBO?

On my Beemer I've had the 2-wheel version of this installed for 5 years. It has worked very well for me. I've ridden in heat, cold, rain, shine. https://www.amazon.com/SYKIK-Pressure-Monitoring-Wheelers-Davidson/dp/B07ZL2ZB92/
