• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Solo to Alaska

I was just going to post some info when I saw your latest update. Stewart, Dease Lake, Bell, Watson Lake have gas and washrooms. I would say fill up always, the supplies may be low along the route. The roads are narrow lane with little shoulder and many bridges are single lane. There is abundant...

    Where did you start?

I came to own an early 70s Kawasaki 650, I believe…may have been a 750, in 1979 bc a friend needed to get some quick cash. It had sat for a few years and I gave him a $100 Canadian for it. Eventually I got it running thanks to another friend who had basic mechanical skills and new plugs, battery...

    Solo to Alaska

Many of us are living vicariously through your trip, thanks for taking us along! Wish I’d seen your thread sooner, would have followed you up to Johnston Canyon, which for many weeks in the summer is a bike only access, from my hometown of Calgary. Best wishes for a continued safe journey and...

Riding into Canada - Any advice re ferries, border, travelling?

I will second the suggestion of using the Port Angeles ferry to Victoria and avoiding the land crossing S of Vancouver; too much traffic. Check out Port Townsend on the the way to Port Angeles, the Olympic Penninsula has nice riding. On Vancouver Island be sure to take the 1A highway which hugs...

    BRP as an investment…

Good points but the supply chain affects everyone not just BRP. The company has said they have 2022 production sold and are bringing on the Mexican factory and an additional one in 2023. COVID changed lifestyles for many people and they now seek sporting/leisure activities. BRP isn’t targeting...

    BRP as an investment…

Maybe they decided that investing money in 300+ HP engines didn’t make sense for them. Who needs 300+ HP engines anyway? Must be a micro market that they can easily say to Yamaha ‘ you can have it’. You should go to their website and see the product offerings they have and that are in the...

    BRP as an investment…

The company had excellent earnings announced today and the shares popped on the Toronto Stock Exchange. I’ve been in and out of it for years and have been buying recently especially since I’m a Spyder owner and looked closely at their product line and it’s impressive. They build quality...

Northern riders, 1st ride each year - are rough roads usual?

Cycling is very popular in Calgary and outlying areas, known here as Municipalities…same as Counties… and they all have road sweeping machines and they have been out already on some of our lightly travelled paved roads that cyclists frequent. We have had a few snow falls that melted quickly so...

Hey Ya'll We Got A New Member! Lets welcome misterbc to SL

Can’t wait for the snow to melt! Have wanted a Spyder since I first saw one in Arizona, down there for a winter getaway, around 2010. It just felt like the right time to pull the trigger and I’m the new proud owner of Glacial Blue 2021 F3 T purchased from Basecamp Motorsports in my hometown of...
