• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Too hot to ride, or maybe I’m just getting old

Maybe you should look at the post by @BGetz about his uncle's crash? You might rethink things. Humidity gets to me, makes it hard to breath. Years ago I was at some desert races in July and was ok. To be honest though, I not sure how I would do now.

Having a blast, but have you noticed these Spyders Take an Effort To Ride?!

When I stopped comparing the Ryker to my bikes, things got better. Just like when I stopped comparing my XR Sportster to the Buell and stopped comparing the Buell to the KTM supermoto. They are all the same, but different.

Your Weather News @ July 2026 Edition

Weather is cooler here, but the wildfire smoke is awful. Sky is grey and all you smell is smoke. Yesterday, Toronto (80 miles East of us) had the worst air quality in the world. No riding for a while.

Your Weather News @ July 2026 Edition

Here in Ontario today is 37°C (99°F). Humidex 45°C (113°F) Used to go riding in the mornings and be home by noon. But it has been too hot and muggy to even do that. :(

My Uncle was hurt in this 2026 RTL Crash!

My take on this is that on a two wheels your chances of falling down are higher. But as you can see when you crash a three wheeler there is a good chance it will flip (ever hi-side a two wheeler, it hurts!) So AGATT for both.

    Random thought for the day

In my younger years, I wore a Barbour waxed cotton jacket (enduros and street). This thing was great, waterproof, and had enough pockets to carry a small lunch for twelve.

Which Battery tender works best - OptiMate 3 or the Battery Tender Junior?

Can't say about the Optimate. But I have used the same Battery Tender Jr. for over twenty years and four bikes and never had a problem.

Do you have a vegetable garden &/or grow any Fruit trees? What time & effort do you put into it, and what do you grow?

You must have some mean deer or your friends dog is a wimp.:D I have never seen deer go into a fenced yead where there is a dog barking it's head off. Unless it is during the rut. You get a big buck spoiling for a fight, then I have seen them go after dogs, coyotes, one even ran into my nephews...

Do you have a vegetable garden &/or grow any Fruit trees? What time & effort do you put into it, and what do you grow?

Mikey, we have friends who live in the country with lots of Bambies. They got dog hair from local groomers and tilled it in around their garden. They swear that it keeps the deer out. OR fence in your yard and get a big doggie.;) As for growing things, I have an outstanding crop of weeds (non...

Ryker newbie - how do I break in the CVT belt? Any other tips?

I forgot that Rykers have a quarter turn throttle, not a half turn like most bikes. A little goes a long way.

Ryker newbie - how do I break in the CVT belt? Any other tips?

Rykers have a hill hold setup, the brakes hold for 5 seconds on a hill according to the manual. I find if I give the throttle a gentle blip before going helps. Also the clutch on a Ryker does not engage until 1800 RPM. You don't have to get on the throttle hard to go. Hope this helps, Raven/Bruce

Ryker dash/gauge wiring is short - is there any more length tucked under the bodywork??

@nightfalcon, thanks for the reply. On my Sport, there is very little slack in the cable and the spacer will not fit. I have looked at a few Rykers on the dealer's showroom floor. The Sport and Rally's have very little slack and the base models have more. Don't know why this is. Situation...
