• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The Auto Downshift is irritating for changes to 2nd & 1st - can anything be done to block those down-shifts?

Personally, I feel the engine is happy at 3000-4000 at steady speeds. It's 'ready to romp' in that range if the need (or spirit) arises.

Getting close to decision time. I need some input from those who have ridden an F3-L and RTL?

I would bet you will need to modify either machine to fit your size. Handlebar problem should be fixable with Heli-bars (or long reach bars). You'll likely need to replace the seat to push you back a bit. Floorboards can be added to the F3 for better leg positions. I'm 6'0'' 190 and I prefer...

2024 RTL - The ride is a bit rough

Just curious, did you check the tire pressures? Too much air will give a very harsh ride also.

What's with the Herky Jerky on first cold start-up of each day? Any thoughts?

Normal for a cold engine. The oil needs to warm up for the clutch slippage to stop. Maybe 5 mins to smooth out.

    2026 model year reveal 8-17-25 6:45 PM

I don't think the video is real.

My first impressions of the 2023 Spyder RTL

Vibration can be a balance issue, out-of-round Kenda tire, or drive belt resonance. My suggestion is to replace the Kendas as soon as reasonable since they are the leading cause of poor handling and wear.

Having trouble wiring a Garmin XT, so should I just run it on its battery? If I do, will it still show traffic?

You'll be lucky to get 4 hours on a fresh battery. Find a 'key-on' wire to tap into 12v.

My MPG skyrocketed in ECO Mode - is ECO Mode really that much better?

My '20 RT MPG started in the mid-20s. I never use ECO. Over several thousand miles, the MPG crept up to the low-mid 30s with no changes in modes or type of riding. I should add, when I removed the Pedal Commander, my MPG went to high 30s.

The Spyder is certainly not a Honda - but the reliability sure would be nice! Still not switching tho!!

Like all other insurance decisions, it's up to your risk tolerance. I bought the BEST warranty and never needed it. The CanAms are generally very reliable. This forum amplifies the problems and usually help resolve questions. My '20 RT has been 'driven hard and put away wet' for 40,000+ never...

What are your thoughts on any potential reliability/issues of this 16 year old Spyder?

That's a very risky purchase. - Ancient technology vs. newer years - Sitting unused for long time isn't good for seals, etc. - No dealer support after 10 years. - Sight unseen 'pig in a poke'. - Long distance to travel if you decide it's not for you. Your call, GOOD LUCK!

    Random thought for the day

I lost interest in 'higher math' when my HS Geometry teacher started the year with, "What did the acorn say when it grew up? "Gee, I'm a tree!" It was hard to pay attention to her after that! Lots of paper clips in the ceiling tiles though!

Deer collision - safer on a Spyder? Thoughts? Or first-hand accounts?

As an old saying goes with a minor edit, "It's not the get-off (fall) that hurts you. It's the sudden stop".

Deer collision - safer on a Spyder? Thoughts? Or first-hand accounts?

I, like many here, have occupied the same space as an animal. Mine was on 2 wheels and only the deer and bike were totaled. I was catapulted over the screen and landed 'superman', gloves 1st contact. I got a bruise on my hip and tore all the gear a little. ATGATT! I suspect the Spyder is a...

New guy checking in - just picked up a new leftover '23 RT Limited.

Welcome! Quite the change from an FJR 'rocket ship' to the lounge chair! I rode an 2012 FJR in Maine (i95 north of Bangor). I had trouble keeping it under 120mph. It just wanted to go 140!:rolleyes:

Has anyone added Marvel Mystery Oil - any comments?

The only time I ever used MMO was when cleaning/re-lubing the counters(mechanical memory) in accounting machines. It helped reduce gummy pinions. I don't mess with the oil formulae of my IC machines but I used to race Karts and had a "Magic Potion" for the fuel (love the smell of burnt racing...

Any feedback or Comments on the complexity of the RTL?

I have a 2020 RT with 40k+ miles. The only electrical problem I've had was a bad brake switch that BRP did a recall on to replace the switch. Other than that the RT has been bulletproof reliable.

Range Anxiety Be Damned - Rotopax installed!

Been there, done that on an RT. Note the square on the back in my avatar. Rotopax covered by helmet bag. May want to burp it at least once a day.

    Riding Gear Poll

You left out another "get-off" method, head-on animal hits that throw you over the bars in a 'superman' fly & slide. I did this on a Tiger1200, but it just as easily could have been off the RT. Tore my gloves, pants, jacket, and boots. Funny, no helmet damage. I agree we are less likely to have...

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

Track racers are a different breed. The typical STREET rider isn't dragging knees. For everyone else, you should have no problem staying with 2-wheelers in the twisties.

Considering a Spyder - Can I Ask You Some Questions?

If you are a 'spirited' rider, after you get comfortable with the G-forces, You'll find keeping up with your 2-wheeled pals in the twisties to be anything but boring! With the added benefit of embarrassing some of those guys.
