• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shock Absorber Technical Questions - is Damping the same as Rebound? & more!

Looks like you might have gotten your question answered, but I'll still share my initial impressions about your original question: Technical Suspension Question - is Damping the same as Rebound? In a nutshell, "Damping" is WHAT happens, "Rebound" is WHEN it happens. There is also a...

Is there a way to get more punch off the line?

I was going to toss an argument into the mix, but realized how old the thread is, and decided to simply ask a question. For those that have any "throttle enhancement system": I am not going to debate the quicker rush of power (due to the changed signal to the ECU), but want to ask, is it harder...

    Rides like a snowmobile

When we got my wife's '17 RT-S, we both had problems going over about 45 mph. Changed tires (Vredestein Q5) as the stock Crapendas were shot. That was a BIG help. Enjoyed the ride to Maggie Valley that fall a lot more, had a BajaRon bar installed while there. Wife's opinion of the bar was...

To Choose a Blind Spot Mirror or a Blind Spot Detector - or Both?

My van has BSD, but I only notice it when I turn my head to look into my mirror. When I do that, I might see the icon in the mirror lit up if someone is actually there. I certainly don't rely on the icon, I just happen to notice it on occasion. Fortunately, it is silent. There have...

Is a Spyder a motorcycle, trike or something else?

Looks like I get to be among the first responders. Personally, I am going to rule out the Harley/Goldwing groups. Why? They are all CONVERSIONS. Honda never made a road-ready trike. Harley started their motorcycle down the assembly line, then diverted it to the Lehman trike factory...

How about heated gear - what's your favorite? Any other suggestions?

Yet another one in the flamewinger camp here. I have a Gerbing jacket liner and a pair of older Widder gloves. Have never experienced the TourMaster jacket with its built-in controller, but I can say that the Gerbing two-channel controller with remote is absolutely WONDERFUL. The actual...

Where do I connect an SWR meter on a 2014 RT-L?

OK, guys, thanks for all the replies. IMS (IdahoMtnSpyder), thanks especially for the instructions, but they were a day late. I left my sister's house on the 8th, after trying to tune the antenna on her husband's Spyder a couple of days earlier. I finally found the area where the antenna...

What size Trailer to Haul Two Spyders? What ramp angle?

Overall, I prefer electric brakes, but there are times when hydraulic surge brakes make more sense. Electric brakes require a controller. Usually, it is in the tow vehicle, but as Jdr00ejr noted, there are some models that can be mounted on the trailer. There is also a difference in models...

Where do I connect an SWR meter on a 2014 RT-L?

Thanks, "B", but I see that your bike is a 2013. I have heard (but don't know for SURE) that they changed the radio (and possibly its location) in 2014. The flat "cable" that you mentioned is the ground cable, not the antenna, so I am still looking. Also, your location of "RH rear" still does...

Where do I connect an SWR meter on a 2014 RT-L?

I have tuned CB antennas for almost 50 years and have the procedure down just fine, but I don't have a clue where the radio is on a Spyder. Yeah the antenna is obvious, and if that is where to connect the meter, fine, but I have usually connected the meter to the output of the radio to be able...

Does it cost this much for Brake fluid change from dealership?

You have to be careful with the term "best". Some will insist that the best brake fluid is DOT5 because it's a higher number than DOT3 or DOT4. The problem is that DOT5 is NOT compatible, and should not be used. I have not looked to see if the Spyder requires DOT4 instead of DOT3, but you can...

Going to try Balancing beads; should I remove weights?

I have no experience with beads, but it is reported that they replace weights, so it won't hurt. Just in case, I would mark where the weights are, so you can put them back, if necessary. .

Ever taken the ferry between South Baymouth, Ontario, and Tobermory?

Have not been on that particular ferry, but back in ‘20, we rode the Badger across Lake Michigan. I was on two wheels, she was on three. About 20 other bikes on the trip. They have a special area for bikes. All 2-wheelers had to be strapped to the wall and/or floor, the Spyder was fine with the...

Does adjusting the Air Bag hard/soft switch change h/light aim?

I don't know about the '13 RTL that Fire34 has, but my sister's '14 RTL and my wife's '17 RTS both have auto-levelling. The base model might not have had the auto feature, but the S and L trims do. .
