• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    93 octane non ethanol gas?

Our spyders are designed to run fine on ethanol blended fuel of 10 or 15%. Read your owners manual... It's all there. Probably the only time I put ethanol free gas in is for storage for a few months I won't be riding... But I don't do that religiously either. What I do is put in fuel stabilizer...

    Rain Gear?

I use Frogg Toggs but not the cheap ones... The cheap ones are cheap and do last a season... But... You can buy more expensive Frogg Toggs in the same/similar breathing material. They have better sewn and more durable seams... I bought the jacket separate from the pants... For the pants I...

Car Tires on your Spyder and your insurance.

The Kendas made for the Spyders are specifically contracted by BRP... You won't find them on the Kenda Web Site. BRP has been partnered for years with Kenda as Kenda was supplying all the tires for their ATV's as well. The only reason the Kendas are stamped motorcycle use only is because they...

    Matthews Fun Machines -- SOLD!

FYI... Team Charlotte Motorsports is still not a BRP dealer. These things take some time to iron out with a purchase like this. I do understand (Rumor) that they are not going to continue selling or servicing the Moto-Guzzi line that Matthews Fun Machines had. They are selling only used spyders...

    Rear Fender Issue.....

The mounting tabs on the 08 and 09 GS were L brackets welded to the swing arm. Later models had them bolted for easier replacement. Those brackets break... Then the resulting vibration will cause the fender supports to crack... Next thing you know the whole thing is flopping around. I chose to...

Going From Stock Tires to (Non-OEM) Car Tires?

Prove what? What exactly are you asking me? The answer is simple. At the same tire pressure the car tire will out perform stock kendas. You want to go lower fine, that is choice. I don't know how you ride Mike. I've met a lot of people that say they ride their spyder hard and then end up...

Going From Stock Tires to (Non-OEM) Car Tires?

Immediate difference. This is all subjective based on the car tire you choose... but with the right car tires I've: Had way better dry traction front and back Had way better wet traction front and back Had way better standing water performance front and back The Kumho that I tried on the rear...

    Gas pump auto shut-off

99 out of 100 times the auto shut off will work. It really sucks when it doesn't. Gas all over. I learned that lesson once on each spyder. Given the small amount of fuel we pump, you are best to not count on the auto shutoff.

Sena 10S OR SENA 20S ..help

I have two SMH10's sitting here somewhere as I upgraded to the 20s for dual speaker and earbud support on the same mount. Let me know.

    $10K Spyders for 2019

Honestly... Who here would even want a $10k spyder? It certainly is going to have a smaller motor, and very limited creature comforts. My bet is that none of us would buy one. If they are making a budget model it will be for an entirely different demographic.

    Carbon buildup

I doubt fuel additives are your issue unless you are drowning it in them... At that point, yes they would cause some issues, but only on the tank you ran it in. You don't need premium except for the extra detergents they add, but regular 87 octane is fine and already has detergents. The 990...

    LaMonster Air Pump Question

The lithium ion battery in the pump can hold a useful charge for a long time... So you shouldn't be too worried about it if you topped the charge off a month ago. Just top it off every couple of months and no worries for two to three years when the battery will likely not perform as well. It is...

    BMW myth

Most BMW riders wave... BMW's are a touring favorite and I think when they see a spyder out on the road loaded down with bags and additional soft luggage or a trailer they know we are into touring too...

    Best Waterless Bike Wash

Just make sure it is safe for Wraps... I have clear wrap and can't wax it as it will yellow, so I have to use plastic polish instead.

    Spyder Adventure Weather forecast

That hurricane just came through so I expect another day and the forecast will change. Can't be any worse than last year, which wasn't too bad. If anything looks like it will be a little warmer.

    Rain Gear

I finally splurged and bought some great boots instead of using boot covers. I bought a pair of pioneer outdry boots... Expensive, but my feet no longer get swamped and I don't have to carry the booties anymore nor do I have to worry about the time and struggle to put them on...

    Adding oil...

I keep an oil/auto fluid vac in the garage. Typically use it for changing oil in my lawn equipment. That made removing oil from the dip tube far easier than cracking one of the drain plugs. The lesson i learned is, once it is overfilled, even if by a tiny amount (which likely won't hurt...

    front wheels lift

Low speed lift in a sharp turn is kinda common. Have done it plenty on my 08 and 17. Just get some seat time in and you'll end up doing it less.

    Question about Hydroplaning

I've run some stupid speeds in the rain with standing water. Done that with stock tires on all three and a mix of tires. I was always used to the rear kenda planing on me. Then I switched to a rear Kumho and it got better, but the Kumho was still terrible in the rain. Then I switched to a toyo...

Motorcycle GPS vs Car (Portable) GPS?

I've been using the cheaper auto Garmins forever. Am on my second one since 2008 which isn't bad considering how cheap they have gotten. Obviously as the others have pointed out... The benefits of a Garmin Zumo is primarily the weather resistance and the ability to use gloves with the screen...
