• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    HD owners educate me

I just purchased a 2018 Softail Slim with the 107 motor. It has dual counter balancers. Nothing shakes at idle.

    HD owners educate me

Correct. The blipping was to keep the older bikes running. The new ones are fuel injected and do not need any blipping. A short warm up, while i put on my jacket and helmet, and ride away.

Castrol power RS racing 4T 10W40 oil

No problem, I would never let my oil go the distance BRP recommends. I usually change it at the beginning of each season. It usually has 5k or 6k on it.

Castrol power RS racing 4T 10W40 oil

FWIW, Shawn who post how to videos on you tube, etc, is a BRP mechanic. He says the XPS Semi Synthetic is 70% synthetic. Its made by Castrol to BRP'S specifications. I just used it at my 3000 mile service. I'll stick with it also.

Thoughts on dealer computer (BUDS) use after self oil change

No, its not free. I believe 30 minute service time. I'll check with the local dealer to confirm cost.

Thoughts on dealer computer (BUDS) use after self oil change

According to a You Tube video on changing oil on a 1330 RT done by Shawn Smoak, a mechanic. In part two he resets the service mileage using BUDS, and shows all the other features available. Its a very comprehensive video. Very well done and he gives the do's and don't's.

    DIY Oil Change?

You are correct. Just did my 2016 RT. 45 Torx on main drain bolt and 6mm Allen on the clutch bolt.

Thoughts on dealer computer (BUDS) use after self oil change

Just changed the oil on my 2016 RT SM6 at 3000 miles. Was thinking of going to the dealer and have them hook up to BUDS and reset the oil change mileage, check and clear codes, upload any new downloads, check all systems, etc. Just wondering if any one has done this after they changed the oil...

Refused to sell me a tire..........

Let me clarify my post. I didn't argue with anyone over their choice of tires. I was saying, based on some forum arguments I read, The Dark Siders are very sensitive about any negative reference to their tires. I could care less what tire someone chooses to use. I personally choose a tire...

    Rear tire for rain

Hey maybe you guys and gals can help me out. I have a 2016 Rt with only 2000 miles on it. Since I'm new to the Spyder world, what is wrong with the stock tires. Is it wear, handling, etc. Just looking ahead at my future tire purchase.

Refused to sell me a tire..........

Being an ex Goldwing owner, I can tell you some riders will run a car tire on the rear and swear its better in ride, handling, wear, etc. They call themselves the Dark Siders. I can tell you not to argue with them.

    Pikes Peak

Just came back from a 1100 mile trip in Colorado. Went up and over Independence Pass at 12000 ft above sea level. The only thing I noticed coming from my home area at 6000 ft above seal level is a power loss. Remember a general rule of thumb. For every 1000 ft you lose 3% of your horse...

    Help! Steering change mid ride.

FWIW, I'm running 18 front and 26 rear. Manual says 20 front and 28 rear plus or minus 2 lbs. I went with the minus 2 lbs. Handles great. Headed to Gunninson Colorado tomorrow for a few days. We will see how it handles the curves up there. On the stock tires! 2016 RT SM6.

    Wandering belt

You bring up a good point. Since I'm a little anal, i put my calipers on the inside of the axle and to the rear of the swing arm. The right side is about 2mm difference. If I try to get the axle aligned the belt goes to the left side of the pulley. I guess you just have to keep playing with...

    Low left side panel

I have a problem with my left side also. The clip that is suppose to hook onto the other body panel will not stay secured. The pins that go into the rubber grommets do stay in their location. I have removed the panel and put it on like the handbook recommends and still the plastic clip won't...

    Might be of interest

The comment was in reference to my riding buddies who have to stand every 15 or 30 minutes on their bikes because their seat sucks. I also have one of them bikes which I avoid taking long trips on. The Spyder seems fine. Oh, I shouldn't mention the brand of bikes they ride (BMW). However, I...
