• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Mountain Switchbacks - be careful

Ride with my dad, and he would challenge you to reconsider that statement. That 67 year old man tricks guys on sportbikes he comes upon to keep up with him in the twisties. :D

**** "DO'S & DO NOTS" for NEW SPYDER OWNERS... ****

I think a lot of the RPM debate is age related. Older people grew up in a time where engine technology was going from points to an electronic module. Engines back then were designed to just cruise around at lower RPM's, and driving styles were laid back. The technology in today's engines is...

    Horrible day dealing with iMotorsports

I don't own a home (no utility bills) and I have no problem buying anything on wheels. My credit score is over 800 though. I use a local credit union. I bought a new truck in 2018, and they had no problem giving me a $36k check after showing them two recent pay stubs. It seems the OP is...

    Oil: time or mileage?

Modern synthetic oils don't just "go bad" in such a short time. The oil doesn't magically grow contaminants while sitting for an extended period. I'd run it until the mileage limit you want to change it at. Some manufacturers use a time limit for oil changes to get the customer back to the...

    full power shifting

At higher RPM's, there is more load going through the drivetrain. The lag you are experiencing is probably just the computer taking a bit longer to cut the fuel and ignition of the engine to reduce the load going into the transmission before it shifts. This prevents damage to the trans and the...

    Is it legal

Their business, their rules. I don't think it would be in our country's best interest to force businesses to serve someone they don't want to. However, I would get in touch with the owner or GM and let them know that their business practices just lost them your business, and everyone you...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

That new Goldwing is a sexy bike. My dad picked up a very nice '98 model early last year so my mother could ride more comfortably with him. He still has his '06 V-Strom with 100k miles he's put on it. The Goldwing is a little steep, as it starts out around $24k though. More than I had wanted...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

I don't see the Spyder as only being for the disabled/elderly/weak/etc...I'm not basing any of my decision on 2 wheels vs. 3 wheels. I don't see it as that since I am not as passionate or die-hard as a lot of 2-wheelers. If anything, I fully believe that I would put triple the miles on a...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, I cannot bring myself to own or ride a "bagger" or other cruiser-style bike. The closest I can see myself coming to one is maybe a Yamaha FJR... Is that your actual bike the museum has? That's amazing!

    F3 trailer loading issues

You can back the rear of the tow vehicle onto ramps or blocks of wood to raise the tongue of the trailer. You can build and install "humps" on the trailer, at the correct location for the front tires to ride up and over to lift the belly of the machine from the tailgate's pivot point as you...

    Tie down points

I know what you are saying. Always secure a load like you are going to roll over on the highway. The potential legal ramifications of an unsecured load are enough of a reason...

What Tire gauge are you all using?

I've been using the same gauge for many years now. I'm very happy with it. With tire pressure gauges, the key is to find one that is consistent. It doesn't have to be 100% accurate. You can use 5 different gauges, and get 5 different readings...the key is to find one and use only that one...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

I have thought about that quite a bit. New seat, rearsets, bars, risers (longer cables), and better grips...I just don't want to drop a grand or more into this bike and take the chance of still not being comfortable. Like someone else said, I am rather large and the FZ1 was not quite designed...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

Thanks fellas! I do need to ride one again. The demo I did was with a group, riding on 35mph roads on the outskirts of town in a 20-minute loop. I may be worrying for nothing, but when you're about to drop 20 G's on something...you want all the knowledge you can get. I think I can cross...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

I definitely need to do another demo ride. Cam-Am's website is showing that the Spyder/Ryker demo event is scheduled at my local dealer on June 2nd. Problem with that, is that June 2nd is a Sunday, and the dealer is closed that day. I need to call them and see what's up. I probably won't...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

You may call them safety features, but I call them annoyances. There are several threads on here alone about the rear tire randomly locking up in a corner, sending people off the road and into oncoming traffic. Sure, it may happen to one machine out of a thousand...but it wouldn't be a concern...

Talk me into buying a Spyder - A few reservations

Hello all! So I've been interested in the Spyder for a few years now (hence my early join date compared to this post), and I did a demo ride of one 2 years ago. If I do get one, it will be the F3-S. I am still young, and I've spent the past 11 years on a couple FZ1's and a short time on a...
