• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    H7 Bulb Replacement

I don't ride at night much. Last night my wife had our Spyder out in an RV park and came home after dark. She had no headlights! Today I checked the 30amp headlight fuse under the right side of the seat - no issue there. So then I went ahead and removed the instrument panel to access the bulbs...

RSS 2012 SE5 Front Tire Sizes????

I put 175/65 R 14 Kumho Solus on the front without any interference issues. I like them. Reasonable grip, will slightly understeer if you push them hard enough, but at that point you'll have high lateral G forces.

    TWISTIES

One of the attributes a Spyder shares with a motorcycle is the fact that the rider can affect the center of mass. Dropping your shoulder to the inside of the curve and lowering your upper body will lower the center of mass and reduce roll. This keeps all three wheels planted. When I road raced...

    RS VS F3 cornering speed?!

:agree:This is what I attempted to explain and failed to communicate in my posts yesterday.

    RS VS F3 cornering speed?!

I give up, I'm sorry this devolved into a forum fight. You can believe whatever you want to believe - I understand the software behind Bosch Vehicle Stability Systems. It's not a matter of belief on my part.

    RS VS F3 cornering speed?!

To a degree, yes. If you are pushing the front on entry or getting on the throttle too hard before you exit, VSS will cut your power. It's always a matter of balance. Trail braking on entry is a difficult technique to master. Hitting the apex and opening the throttle - it's all to easy to wind...

    RS VS F3 cornering speed?!

I'll admit to be a fairly new Spyder rider. But I failed to mention that I also spent a considerable amount of track time in autos with traction control and stability systems. I spent my entire career with a European auto manufacturer in Technical Service and Quality. I understand Bosch...

    RS VS F3 cornering speed?!

As I said, I may have misunderstood your post. You've also missed the point of my post. VSS intervention means loss of traction all things considered, unless there's a faulty sensor signal. I also said noticeable intervention - VSS may apply brakes at one or more wheels without me really knowing...

    RS VS F3 cornering speed?!

I'm not sure if I understand you correctly. The VSS doesn't cut power arbitrarily at some designated speed. It monitors signals from various sensors. It takes the steering angle (driver input) and compares it to the yaw sensor signal (vehicle response). It also monitors all three wheel...

Kumho Ecsta is a car tire. Why would you reject that choice?

    Brake Fluid Reservoirs

Typically the front brakes handle 70% of the braking power. But that doesn't explain why the rear reservoir supplies the front brake calipers.

    Elka Suspension

Replaced the stock shocks and springs with Elka units this morning. I'm an ex-motorcycle roadracer and I have a fair amount of experience with shock (and fork) set-up. My main gripe with the stock shocks was stiction in the front. When riding through a sweeping curve the shock on the outside of...

If you're thinking about going to a 60 series aspect ratio, why not go to 176/60-14, many more tire choices in this size.

420256562 #32 hydraulic shifting solenoid valve specs?

My manual for the 2008 - 2011 GS/RS shows the following values at 68 degrees F. The first set of numbers are the pins (wires) at the Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector for the solenoids. The second set of numbers are resistance in ohms. It isn't totally clear, but I believe these are...

    evap canister removal

Thanks for the explanation. Overflow into the evap canister is usually caused by overfilling the fuel tank. I'm as guilty as the next guy of trying to squeeze the last little bit of fuel into the tank. However, if you do this on a hot day and park the Spyder within a few miles of riding, the...

what causes a cam senser fault

Cam position sensors are electronic devices - usually a Hall effect sensor. A fault doesn't necessarily mean the sensor is bad - it usually comes down to a poor electrical connection. Check the connectors for corrosion. Most of the time a cam position fault doesn't affect performance to a...

    evap canister removal

Why do you want to eliminate the carbon canister from the fuel vent? This canister absorbs hydrocarbons from the vented fuel tank. Periodically, the purge valve opens and the hydrocarbons are pulled into the intake system and burned in the combustion chamber. It's a simple system that reduces...

    Plastic Radiator Canister Cracked

The tape you used is a self-fusing wrap - it only sticks to itself and will not adhere to the surface. It's for wrapping a cracked hose or pipe or insulation on a wire or cable.

    Here we go again

I spoke to the folks at Progressive last week. Currently they don't offer rear Spyder shocks, only the front pair. I placed an order with Elka yesterday for front and rear.
