• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Darn cell phones

Other way around. Get a iPod Touch with NO SIM card but great WiFi. Or some other old phone WITH WiFi but ditch the SIM if you want. Make all calls using Skype or the dozens of other skype like software. In our house FaceTime is used a lot for overseas calls. You just can’t beat FREE with...

    Boot question

Be careful that they don't also mean that the boot will be "air proof" as well. A good Goretex (or similar) lined boot will be quite pricey ... if you want waterproof.

    Travel Trailer Camping in Canada

The two primary sites are "Campendium.com" and "FreeCampsites.net". Also in Canada, many Casino properties offer free overnight camping for self-contained units and of course Walmart too. They should be listed in the Campendium.com site. Each and every Province has their own Park system...

    Travel Trailer Camping in Canada

They stopped selling the 95% DEET here in Canada and only sell stuff with a concentration less than 30% now. SIGH! But really the things to be afeared of are the "no-see-ums" (Black Flies). They rip chunks of meat out of your flesh and go eat it in the woods. I have been inundated by clouds...

Zumo 660 can't be trusted in my opinion

I always laugh when my Garmin has me do a u-turn for no particular good reason only to re-route me back onto the very same road just a mile or so down the way ... LOL

    Zumo 396

By my experience about a year and a half ... maybe two. Then you are "OUTA HERE" ... You are a WAY better using your cellphone and a plastic baggy over it when it rains. Garmin even just this month discontinued support for their cell phone application called "Navigon". An excellent product...

    Zumo 396

Be carefull with your interpretation of Garmin's "Lifetime Maps" assurance ... It is not your lifetime, nor the lifetime of the device ... but the lifetime of when Garmin supports your device. You are locked out when Garmin no longer sells that Model. You are locked out if you have any kind...

What did you tell 'em your tire was for?

I am headed that way and may need them ... what tire did you buy (front) and would you think they would remove the tire and rim directly from my Spyder or not? Did they have it in stock or did you order it? I am going down there later this week with about 50% of my Kenda tread left on the...

    Headlight adjustment

Helpful? ... WOW. The instructions on the LED package had me in there twisting the bulb in the housing. This (if it works ... and I'm sure it will) it is sure be a LOT simpler to do than what they had in mind. I am about to leave on a trip in which we will be loaded down quite a bit and I...

    Headlight adjustment

I have installed LED headlights and they seem to be pointed a little "tall" and I would like to point them down about 1" or so when pointed at my garage door from about 6'. I read somewhere that to adjust them you "rotate" them one way or the other and that would do it. I have no idea if that...

    Handbrake on RT - Opinion

Well ... I NEEDED the hand brake NOT because of my knees (although after having bought the RTL in 2014 I have had BOTH knees replaced last year ... LOL) I needed the brake to grab just SOMETHING with that hand! After having ridden motorcycles with a hand brake for over 50 years I was...

    Sales tax out of state

Yes I heard the number was in excess of 10,000 different tax jurisdictions in the USA. It is going to mean the death of the freewheeling small entrepreneur who just sells stuff and ships it.

    How much do you weigh?

I am about to leave on a long trip and it occurred to me to wonder about the weight of stuff I am about to carry. I have 25 lbs of "stuff" I carry on a rack which I use which is attached to my trailer ball ... I am carefull not to get that rack too heavy. I suppose I have a further 45 lbs...

What is a reasonable time to wait if you are on the road and need urgent service ...

It has been my BMW experience the time is hours at most. I have had flat tires (plural), broken spokes and snapped clutch cable fixed on an emergency basis all without delay. Without delay!!! Certainly same day usually within a couple hours. The dealers (various in several states and...
