• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Airflow Heat issue on 2008 GS

I have an 08 and live in Florida as well as doing a lot of ryding in the southwest. I have had all the Spyderpops stuff since it became available. I have not wrapped my pipes or vented or removed my belly pan. I have ridden in triple digit temps for years with no ill effect on my machine. I...

    A Big Thank-You

I broke down in Fort Worth, TX and my wife and I owe our gratitude to two entities. The first is Dennis McNulty, still listed on Spyders to the Rescue even though he no longer has a Spyder. I reached out to him and got a call back within 15 minutes. He pointed me to Cowtown...

Help/Advice, DPS code in Midlothian, TX

Left a friends home in Midlothian, TX, getting an intermittent DPS (power steering) fault that throws the Spyder into Limp Mode, making travel impossible. Friends came and got us as they have a large trailer. Got a recommendation of a local dealer from someone on Spyderlovers. Looking for a...

    TOWING

Been doing it for almosts longer than anyone I have been pulling a trailer with my PE 08 for as long as I have had it. I do not have any need for trailer brakes but I do leave more seconds of following distance when the trailer is behind me. On hitch weight; while you do not want to overload...

RotopaX Gas Cans - Gasoline Smell

MIne is a Reda too I put mine in a 2 gallon sized zip lock and carry it in my trailer. Have never smelled any fumes and have been days at a time in 100 deg. F+ temps. Won't try and tell you the can doesn't swell in those conditions, but so far the inside of my trailer does not smell like gas...

    mode button

Light vs Codes The "active" codes will come up even if the light is not lit. Check engine light often comes on with heat issues, but that is not too likely this time of year. Your dealer can pull up the reason for your check engine light (inactive codes), but you cannot if there is not a...

Does anyone have these Oxford rain seal muffs?

Since you live in the great white north, just about any snowmobile dealer should have a similar product that might fit your RT.

    armrest

ISCI and another? ISCI makes a quality product. I have seen another aftermarket set, but do not know who makes it. Differences are; A) the other manufacturer uses tubular steel rather than plate, and B) the armrests swing out rather than up to allow the passenger to enter and exit the seat...

    Communications

Helmet first communicators second. As Chupaca says above, get a quality helmet that you are comfortable with then get the communicators. My wife and I use the Sena SMH10 and are very happy with them. Here is a link to the communications system that won the best for the year at Web Bike World...

Had to change because of High rates Had all my motorcycles and cars insured with Progressive for years. Then I got the Spyder and they were unreasonably high compared to other companies :dontknow:. Now my motorcycles are insured with Foremost and my cars with the Hartford.

Barter I traded a motorcycle I was done with for my trailer paint job. Probably worth $800 to $1,00 on the used market, but not worth that to me anymore.

2014s Go To Orange Long Life Coolant

Careful when you drain your radiator Happened to me. :banghead: The next time I drained the coolant I did so by removing the lower hose instead on the drain plug. Didn't want to have to buy yet another radiator. :yikes:

    Rear Air Suspension ?

Fan of Air Shocks I really like rebuildable air shocks and have had them on lots of my motorcycles. I have them on my Spyder trailer now. Lamonster had a rear air shock on his first Spyder but did not leave it on. That might tell you something right there. There are also posts on how to...

    Waterproofing Leathers

Lquid Nikwax I have used the above for decades, on my riding leathers, gloves, boots and seats. This product cleans, softens, conditions and waterproofs while maintaining breathability. I do however carry rainsuits for my wife and I for those all day rains as most leathers were never...

    Lifting at the rear

Floorjacks I use floor jacks to stabilize front and/or rear depending on where I am working. I put the rears under the passenger foot peg mounts.
