• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Looking at buying - If you are over 80 y/o and ride a Spyder, raise your hand...

85 next month and have ridden my Spyders 150,000+ miles. But not every day like I used to... I've slowed down this past year. It's been a great ryde!

Has anyone tried Different Batteries, like a NOCO 600A Lithium? How is it working?

On 11/08/22 I installed a battery from O'Reilly Auto Parts for $119.95 plus tax. Only guaranteed for 12 months but after 18 months now, it still spins starter at full speed. I forget the name of it, but the physical dimensions exactly match the Yuasa. I don't use a battery maintainer.

What are the Highest Miles on your Spyder ?

Current 2015 has 117,775 miles. All by me.

Not a crisis topic - just Old Age and a new curiousity - 50mph 'feels' faster...

With the constant 15-20mph winds down here, I like to keep it around 55-60. But yesterday was a rare no-wind day, so on a nice new stretch of asphalt that I had all to myself for a while, I punched it out to 110 for a minute or so. Wheee! The most I ever coaxed out of mine was 117, a few...

Sounds like chirping birds at idle on 2015 RT - any ideas on why/what??

I had a chirping/chirring noise in the left front of my 2015 for a long time, but it was while under load and would immediately quit upon unloading the drivetrain. It went away with the front sprocket recall/replacement. Has your sprocket been replaced?

Is there anyone in Central Texas who'll do a DESS Disable?

It's in Missouri too. And who knows where else? ;)

How do you explain what riding is like?

Yup. A neighbor of mine was into flying, and he wore a T-shirt that said: F L Y I N G The second-greatest thrill known to man!

    Downshifting vs Braking

Great video. "The only bad thing is No Brake Light." That's where a Decelerometer module comes in, but I never could get mine regulated satisfactorily, so I have it inoperable right now.

I'm glad I got my ride in yesterday.

I usually ryde on Sunday but the weather didn't cooperate today, so I took the car instead. Car thermometer hit 107 degrees at 3:45pm. :yikes:

I'm glad I got my ride in yesterday.

Wow. At 42° I wouldn't even LOOK at my Spyder. At 72° I wear my leather jacket. But I've been riding nearly each day lately, without a jacket!

Who Out There Has Gotten The Replacement Sprocket?

Mine was in the shop for 15 days (but I was ill and unable to ride anyway) and I just got it back on Friday 2/24. They said mine was "rusted" on the shaft so badly they had trouble removing it (along with numerous other Spyders that had the same problem). They even busted their wheel-puller and...

    Downshifting vs Braking

EXACTLY! Decel is nothing but the opposite of accel. When you accelerate HARD (just for fun, or whatever reason) those gear teeth are doing it ALL, aren't they? And decel would wear the opposite sides of the gear teeth anyway, not increase the wear on the acceleration side. Now, there WOULD be...

    Engineering Idiocy

And how many points are there on all the other "hex" plugs? (TeeHee) Sorry, I just couldn't resist. Carry on, friends!

Who Out There Has Gotten The Replacement Sprocket?

I was responding to a post (quoted) that implied the part number was NOT changed. And I suggested an EC that does NOT change the product, only the manufacturing process that creates the product.

Who Out There Has Gotten The Replacement Sprocket?

Now, I am just speculating here and don't really know the skinny, but consider this: Later years of manufacture of the same part number could be improved because of an Engineering Change due to discovering a problem and correcting it at some point. Subsequent production would not suffer that...

Who Out There Has Gotten The Replacement Sprocket?

I got my first inspection yesterday (Friday the 13th!) and was told they aren't even replacing sprockets unless needed. If needed, they will order one and will call me back when my turn comes in the (long) backorder wait list. Mine wasn't too bad, even for my high mileage, but WAS serviced and...

How many miles on your current Spyder?

Hit a palindrome on today's ryde: 114,411 miles.

Anyone installed a Turn Signal Audible alarm? 2017 F3T

I have those too, but the LEDs all burned out AGES ago, and the original seller quoted $50 just to replace the LED strips! Anyone know of a replacement source at a reasonable price? (I bought them just for the original problem described above... practically invisible OEM lights.)

Just rode my new 2022 RT home - got a lot to learn!

That's the way to drive any/every vehicle. It makes you execute the curve right in the center of the lane every time. My dad taught me that when I was just learning, at 15. He said he learned it from his older brother, who drove trucks.
