• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Significant progress on talking to CAN Bus on Spyder

So I managed to sweet talk a former employer into borrowing a $700 CAN bus adapter that lets my laptop see the CAN bus traffic over USB. Last night I finally sat down and played with the system to see what I could learn. This is going to be a somewhat long and technical post so bear with me...

Which wire to cut for Kisan Headlight modulator?

So Kisan does not make the model with the inline plugs anymore (P115W-D6). Instead they now sell the P115W-H3 for the Spyder which requires you to splice the Kisan inline. Looking at the wiring diagram, I am guessing the correct line is the red / blue wire downstream of the headlight relay...

Random things I learned about my spyder this weekend...

    1. I'm missing the rectangular rear inserts on my Givi hard bags on my RS. They weren't there when I bought it used so I did not notice they were missing. Maybe an excuse to buy the LED's 2. The battery is a real PITA to change if you have the Givi bags. Those turn signal extension...

Bad case of dumb-rear, left my key on all day at work and killed the battery...

Doh! Nothing like being in a hurry to get home (had to get the boy to a Boy Scout thing) only to find your Spyder's battery is dead because you left the key on all day... And it was the original battery on an 08 so that sucker is probably toast. Even if it starts after spending the night on...

Do the 622 trailer model years affect adapting it to a GS?

Did not want to jack this thread: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?52543-622-Trailer-Questions But I was curious, is any of the 622 model years easier / harder / better to adapt to a 2008 GS? Does the "viper red" trailer match the 08 red GS? Considering a trailer for a big...

Bought used Corbin seat for my Spyder, need a prop rod to refuel

Now I can see why everyone loves the fuel door. Does anyone have pictures or a source for a prop rod to keep the seat elevated while refueling? Or at least a picture with some dimensions so I can try to fabricate something? Thanks, David

    Seating, luggage and backrest combinations

So I am in an unusual confluence of events. I have an 08 GS with comfort seat and oem backrest and plate. The last few days I have been thinking about a driver backrest and reading up on the smooth spyder model. Well I just jumped on a good deal in the four sale section, a used Corbin with...

Anybody near Houston have a Corbin seat on their RS / GS?

Thinking about buying the used one on the for sale board, wanted to sit on one first if possible. Thanks, David

Pin out for that 6 pin Diagnostic connector?

I finally got the parts to start reverse engineering the BUDS protocol and I can't seem to find the pin assignments for the 6 pin Buds connector and the service PDF is going slower than christmas for some reason. Does anybody know / have the pinout for that 6 pin connector? I think CAN Hi is...

Anyone have contact info for Texas Tripod?

A few months ago Texas Tripod posted some Spyder items for sale. I expressed interest and told him I would get back to him. Well I have not been able to get a response either from posts or private messages. I have an errand that is going to take me within a few miles of his city this weekend...

    Dynabeads made my balance worse

Sigh. Looking for opinions on what next. 10 days or so ago I changed the rear tire to a Falken. I took the wheel off myself and a few mistakes / swear words, I got the wheel and new tire to the local tire shop. The local tire shop did not have the correct adapter / tool to balance the tire...

Adventures in tire replacement and now how do I tension the belt?

So I attempted to follow Lamonster's video on wheel removal where you did not have to re-tension the belt but it did not work out like I hoped. I broke the axle nut and the lower shock nut free on the ground then lifted the whole bike just in front of the swing arm pivot. When I got it in the...

Stupid: installed my rear brake disc backwards

Yeah, go ahead and laugh. It was late, it was dark, I was tired. I was changing my rear tire and I put the brake disc on backwards (with the toothed side facing in towards the wheel). I of course immediately got a VSS / limp home fault before I got to the end of the street. I took it back...

Tire change help please. Does this have to come off?

Does that strange retainer holding the beating in have to come off for a tire change? I got the hub off and I think that is as far as I have to go before taking it to a tire shop for mount and balance. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

    Be prepared.

Had my spare tire delivered to work so someone could sign for it. Just a short ride home, this should be safe. Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk 2

Would a PCV + stock pipe help with the heat?

Just curious... The Spyder makes plenty of power (for now) and although I appreciate the bark of a fine set of pipes I am not ready to inflict noise pollution on my neighbors yet. But I wonder if a power commander with slightly richer settings might make the Spyder run a little cooler and...

Shop told me that the hot foot mods would kill my master cylinder

So I just picked up my bike from the shop yesterday. It was throwing a code "1282" about low pressure in the brake line. So they replaced both front calipers and and the master cylinder under warranty. But the shop guy was very emphatic that the Spyderpops mods to save my feet were cooking...

Has anybody ever thought about / tried a wiki for Spyder?

So I am a new owner and a techie by trade so I want to know all there is to know about owning and modifying my Spyder. I find myself searching the forums a lot to answer simple questions I see asked over and over. Has anyone thought of a wiki to gather the frequent information in one place...

Need someone with a schematic to read me some pin-outs for the computer connector

Today I received my mating connectors for the Spyder computer connection. Time to fabricate a cable and see what I can figure out hacking into this thing. There are three wires going into the back of the connector, my Spyder is in the shop right now so I can't even go look at the colors. CAN...

Another satisfied Spyderpops customer, hot foot solved, runs cooler, mileage up.

I have no financial ties to Spyderpops other than a satisfied customer. I got such good service I thought I would return the favor with a honest testimonial. Stopped by Harvey's shop in AR while on vacation a week ago and got him to do the full works on my 2008 GS. He installed the heat...
