• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Settlement Offered on my '09 SM5

Just received the call I was dreading... Allstate has determined that the repair costs for the Spyder was too high, and has offered me $12,600. The amount would have been higher, but I had almost 11k miles on it and I bought it new 10 months or so ago. I owe about 14.5k, but the difference...

    First MC accident

Was involved in my first motorcycle accident... my Spyder is pretty banged up, but hopefully repairable. I'm a bit sore, but no major injuries. I was on my way to work, doing 55mph when a lady in the cross street decided to leave the stop bar and plow into me... the Spyder and I went rolling...

    HELP PLZ!!! Exhaust issue

I have an '09 GS. A few months ago, I took it in for the 9k service. When I got it back, it seemed I could hear what could be a minor exhaust leak. I didn't make too much of it because the shop just had it. Well, it seemed to get worse and the mc seemed to lose a little power (I generally...

    Opinions/help RE: Heated gloves

So winter is coming on quick and the gloves I bought work well above freezing, but my hands are going to need more warmth I think. I've considered the FirstGear heated gloves, but you have to install a power source. Has anyone done this on a GS/RS? How hard is it? I think I would prefer the...

    Great Customer Service from Firstgear

I am very happy to report that the company that makes Firstgear products is very responsive to their customers. I purchased an Expedition suit from BajaRon, which I really like, but after using it once, one of the main zippers broke, which I was able to work around, but then a vent zipper got...

    105°

Drove 45 minutes, most of the way was 104 and I had 4 bars (atabout 80mph, when I got to an area that was 105, it went up to 5 bars. Got off freeway and dropped speed to 60mph, and it returned to 4 bars. I think the Spyderpop mods work.

    Purchasing parts

I need to buy the housing that is near the throttle (I would call it a throttle housing, but I gueas that's something else). I went to BRP's parts list, but didn't see an option to purchase. Is it necessary to buy that item through a dealer?

    Rear shock adjustment

I've got an '09 GS. I want to stiffen the ride from the current 3 to a 5. I jacked up the spyder from the rear of the frame, forward of the shock, then i tried to turn the adjuster with a ratchet and extension. I couldn't get it to budge :opps:...LOL. Any suggestions to make it easier? Thanks!!

    Temecula, Ca

I'm going to ryde down to Temecula to visit a friend. She wants to take a little ryde on the Spyder. I'm wondering if anyone knows of some nice local destinations, suitable for a quick stop, maybe picnic, or some place (besides the casino) worthy of some picture taking. Thanks!

    Strange thing...

I very recently installed the 4.5" risers and today I noticed that to start my '09 SM5 all I need to do is turn the key and press the button on the front of the throttle assembly. IOW, I don't have to press both buttons on the throttle assembly. A short maybe?

    "Where'd that come from..."

So I installed the SpyderPops "E scoop" and was replacing the bottom plate when a 1 1/4" screw falls out of the bowels of my Spyder :dontknow: I notice that it didn't have any thread goop on it :sour: which would explain why it didn't stay where it belonged :( I know there will be the...

    Clutch sensor (?) Wiring

I installed the risers, which left the wires going to what I guess is a sensor for the clutch very tight when turned full right. Would it be ok to add some wire somewhere along the middle of the run, or has anyone found a routing that works better? Thanks! Sorry, I'm no mechanic, so I'm just...

    GS vs RS

When I bought my 2009 Spyder, back in March, I'm pretty sure the dealer said it is an RS, I recently looked at the cover of the manual, and it doesn't specify GS or RS, it says SM5, which just tells me it's a manual transmission. My question is how can you tell one from the other, and what's the...

    Triple Play revisited

I was installing this today and ran into some problems. First off, I have the GIVI bag lights, and this request for :helpsmilie: is for anyone knowledgable about this application. I hate to seem like I'm :bdh: but this is really frustrating :gaah: And yes I did :read: the instructions, such...

    Triple play question...

I am about to install a triple play unit, but I have the GIGI saddlebags with the LED turn signals installed. Is there anything I should be aware of when I install the unit? The instructions are uninformative and especially brief, that is sometimes a sign that it is really simple, or could be...

    Monsoon riding!!

We have monsoons out here in the desert, it's HOT and MUGGY, so after I got done doing some work on the Spyder, I waited for the lightening to pass by and took it out, tee-shirt & jeans. It was a very nice ride, the rain drops were HUGE, LOL, but definitely cooled me off  Got a few waves...

Question about handle bar risers and mirrors

If I use the 4.5" handle bar risers, how would that effect the mirrors? Does it work well with the up and out mirror extensions? Or would the straight mirror extensions work better with this application? Or no extensions at all? Thanks for your advise!
