• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Oh, my word! Just noticed all my PM's!

Just got an alert that I had a PM from a fellow Vermont Spyder ryder. Went over there and replied. Happened to scroll down a bit, and got a look at a long list of PM's, some of which have been on here for a couple of years. Sorry, if I've given anyone on SL's the impression that I don't want...

Why does the site tell me this?

I just posted on this forum, and I got a message that "This is a repeat of a duplicate post, etc", even as I hit "submit" for the first time. Why did this happen?

    Where's my oil going?

Just changed oil and filter, yesterday. Added 4 quarts of Castrol racing 10 - 40, designated for wet clutches. Started the engine with about 3.5 quarts in it, and finished dumping the 4th one in. Let it idle for a minute, shut it down, and checked the level. The dip-stick barely touches...

    Need some help/advice.

My 08 RS-5 has been running great for a long time, but, after hauling it back from Texas this week, when I started it up to drive it out of my pickup bed, the chain tensioner won't stop clattering. Usually, when I start it up, cold, it'll clack a couple of times and then build up and quiet...

    Handling smilies.

How the heck do you work around those smilies? I just posted again, in "Just a thought", or whatever I called it, and put in a couple of smilies, which are just fine and fun, in their own right, but I couldn't get back ahead of one of them to add an additional sentence.:banghead::roflblack...

    Just a thought.

:f_spider:It just occured to me, that the Spyder Lover's supporting vendors just might be responsible for the fact that I still have my SM5(a used 08, with just 683 miles, and, I'm the third owner!), almost 2- 1/2 years after buying it. Based on my experiences/observations/impressions, my Spyder...

    Posting photos.

:helpsmilie:I've posted, on SL's, quite a few times, talking about the floor-boards and body mods on my Spyder. Getting close to being paint-ready on the the right side, which is the important one, the proverbial cooked-foot syndrome being the issue, whithout some Tupperware on there.nojoke...

OK, I'm ready,---------- almost. Elkas, or what?

Got over 9000 miles on my 08 RS, now, and I'm thoroughly tired of bottoming out the rear suspension. With me and the little;) woman on board, it's up near the allowed limit and I'd like to make the thing ride better, solo, and two-up. So, the questions. Is ELKA the only way to go? Is there...

    Paint ---- again.

I know it's been bounced around on here before, and will be again, but, search as I may, I can't find the data that I know I've seen, months ago. Soooo, one more time; Where do I look to duplicate Spyder paint? I think I read that Dupli Color was the best bet, but not sure. In my case, I'm...

    Still not up to snuff.

Got my new wires and plugs from BajaRon, and they're great (see the thread on new plug-wire source), but, a few more miles of riding shows that there are still some issues. The major miss-fire issue seems to be gone, but, at random intervals, there'll be a skip for a revolution or two, and...

Just for WIW. My floo-boards and related mods. (Without Pics)

At some point in time, I'll have pics on what I've done, but for now, just let me descrbe what I've done, up to this point. You'll see the start of this little discussion in another thread in this forum. I had found the RS riding position to be un-livable for my 71 year-old bones. I knew that I...

Need help with poor running RS.

My Spyder started acting up, back about mid-Summer. Would start fine, run well for a couple of miles, then start to skip, and run on one cylinder. Ended up, one day, coming back from accross our town, running on one cylinder, with about two miles to go to get home, and I was just nursing it...

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We've been without WIFI for two weeks, now, and couldn't keep up with the new aquaintances we met at Spyderfest. Got a lot of catching up to do on this-here computer, so, as a quick start, just let me say thank you, once more to Lamont, and Len, and Rick, and all of you who made that event...

Y! pipe gasket replaced - what a difference

A quick test ride by a Cowtown tech, and I'm told that the "Y" gasket is leaking. A short hour later, and the RS is both quieter and smoother. Seems to me that the thing has been that way since I picked it up last July with only 683 miles on it! I had suspected that my byke was...

You older guys with Spyderlovers history.

You already know what I'm learning, here in Cuba. I'm only 71, after all.:D Got to meet a few of the Cowtown gang, today. Rick, Len, Sam, Joe and Dan. Sorry, Sam, I've already forgotten Mrs. Sam's name.:opps: Not all employees, of course, but all nice folks. This is gonna be good, for...

    In Cuba!

Didn't mean to, but we arrived last night. Never bothered to stop between Branson and Cuba, because we were ducking storms, and decided that one place was good as another. Glad we came on in. Booked for 11 nights and got a great rate, at a nice little park, within ear-shot of Cowtown. Lady...

Do I really want to know?

Hey, Lamont, is the "story" of that photo under "Stuff", at the top of the Forum page, one that we should wish to hear?:dontknow: or:roflblack: or :gaah:??? Can I post this little moto that I learned from a Canadian? If not, please delete this part.:DV :"Never pass up an opportunity to...

    It's getting better every day.

We left our wintertime RV park in Brownsville, two weeks ago today. Stopped in Rockport for several days, and then on to DeRidder, LA for two nights. Put 150+ miles on the Spyder, while there. Ever there, be sure to stop by the Two Sisters Restaurant for some of the South's best home cookin...

A few observations, if I may.

Picked up my 08 last July, with 836 total miles on it. Never will know for sure, just why I'm the 3rd owner, but, I have a couple of suspicions. * I doubt that the 1st two owners gave the bike a fair trial. Many aspects of an RS make it a beast to ride, especially early on. * It had a...

    Couple of service questions.

Just got back from a 5 day ride up to the Texas Hill Country and back, from Brownsville, and have passed the 6,000 mile-milestone. So. I'm about due to leave the Brownsville area, for a long-winded trip home, to Vermont, with our Sierra DuraMax and Mountaineer TT, with the Spyder in the bed of...
