• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

    Goodbye, it HAS been fun

Hello All, I haven't been around for a while, but the forum had been so helpful to me when I was thinking about buying (and afterward buying) that I wanted to say "Thanks" before I left. I have some kind of soft tissue damage in my right elbow and the push- pull steering of the Spyder seems to...

    Water Wetter

I did a search, sorry if this is a duplicate. It has been very high humidity here (for the desert) and an indicated 106°F - so it's hot. Although the temp gauge has never gone onto the red, it is very close. Less than one demarcation point away). I have heard that the analog gauges are not...

    DIY video for you

I love DIY on You Tube. I love Eric The Car Guy, Briansmobile1, and Real Fixes Real Fast. I thought, "Hey, I think I can do that." Of course I'm not too good with a camera, and I have Tinker-Toy Video editing skills. But here are some Spyder specific videos. I hope you'll forgive my...

    Possible brake fluid leaks

Twice now I have had a spot appear right in front of the rear wheel. A dark single drip that looks (at least a little) like engine oil. It's brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir. The rubber gasket in the reservoir cap has a little slit in it (on purpose). If your brake fluid level...

    Poor dealership wrecks the experience

I posted here before that my parents bought a 2011 RT-S. They had the dealership install the CB system pre-delivery. They CB didn't work so they took it back; that got fixed. Since then her RT-S has been taken back to a dealership three times, but only by trailer. The new dealership (the one...

Electr. help with heated pass. grip

I have a base RT. I recently installed the heated passenger grips on it for my girlfriend. However, after putting everything back together, I realized that the heat doesn't work (should'a not put it all back together). First thing I noticed is that most of the switches on the RT are back lit...

Helmet to Helmet Comm. Any ideas?

I have a basic RT. I've ridden for 20 years with no radio, no CB and nobody else. Now I have a girlfriend who likes the Spyder and wants to come with me, but would like to get a communications device to make communication easier. I'm not keep on having a bunch of cables hanging off the side...

    Faults on a new 2011 RT-S

My parents just took delivery of a 2011 RT-S (well last week). We made an appointment to have the SPyder brougt in this week and along the way discovered the following faults. As I understand it, there is an eye-lid that makes the headlight go between low-beam or high beam. One of the...

    Need CB help

My parents just rode home a bright red RT-S (even Steveie Wonder could see this colour). The dealership installed the CB, but the CB no worky. You can't even select the CB settings, when you press PTT - nothing happens. I don't have a CB on my RT so I don't know where to look, but the headset...

    Miscellaneous Ramblings

    1. I tried the drain plug from "Magnetic drain plugs." I had the mechanic install it when I had the 600 mile service. He said that it was very hard to install (start the threads) since the magnet wants to pull to the metal housing. Oh, I hadn't thought of that. He must have had trouble indeed...

Belt alignment, what am I doing wrong?

Okay, I took off the muffler, removed the plastic caps, took out the cotter pin, loosened up the axle nut, then tightened the right adjuster about 1/2 a turn (to get the belt off the inner flange) and the belt didn't move at all. It continues to ride on the inner flange of the rear pulley...

    Belt tension, model number

Easy one first. Where doi I find the model number? Like B5A , ABAA or whatever? I looked at the recall information posted by Lamonster and in the belt tension section they use some wierd Gizmo that senses harmonic vibration to measure belt tension. No way. I can't use belt deflection? That...

    New member, not owner yet

Hello all (I hope I'm posting in the right spot). I have been a Harley rider (20 years) and H.D. mechanic (for 6 years), toured a lot and been a HOG member. I have been looking at the Spyder for a while and have decided to buy (just a question of when). I am looking at a left over 2010 RT...

    brake reservoir leaks?

I saw on a You Tube video (on a Gs or Rs) that when the body work was removed, you could see where brake fluid had spilled and had damaged some of the paint and components under the body work. Is this a problem with all Spyders or is this a sign of poor maintenance by dealership or owner? I am...
