• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

My Spyder is causing family trouble...

One of my sons and his family are visiting with us right now. This morning I took my 11 year old grandson on a 40 mile ride on my Spyder. He loved it, and said it was so much more fun, more comfortable, and felt a lot safer than when on the back of his Dad's Yamaha sport touring bike. He said he...

The Spyder is certainly not a Honda - but the reliability sure would be nice! Still not switching tho!!

I love riding my Spyder, and just came back from a two and a half hour 100 mile ride in perfect weather, and it doesn't get much better than it was today. I filled up the tank (actually was able to put 6.2 gallons in, the most I think I ever did at one time) and pulled into the garage. I went to...

I want to give a "thumbs up" to my Can Am Dealer

This is a "thumbs up" to Loves Park Motorsports in Roscoe, IL. I bought my RT there in 2021 and have used them for any service that I have needed since buying the bike. The hourly rate of $150 is high, but that would likely be the case anywhere. Recently, I had the RT in for an oil change and a...

My Thoughts on the 2025 RTL

Yesterday I had the chance to ride a 2025 Spyder RTL as a "loaner" while my bike was being worked on. My general opinion is that I like the changes made from what I have with my 2021 RT, but not enough to trade up to a new one at a cost of several thousand dollars at least. The main thing I...

Losing a bit of faith in Can Am - enjoy the riding, but not the endless waiting while they find parts and fix all the niggling issues!

Last fall one of the speed sensors failed on my 2021 RT, and I ended up missing the entire Fall riding season while the dealer tried to get the replacement sensor. Then recently, I had the problem of not being able to unlock &/or open one of the side cases, and the plastic latch snapped off when...

Interesting item in Loaner Waiver at the dealership

I brought my Spyder into the dealership this morning to get some work done (the latch on one of the side cases on my RT broke when I tried to open the case, and the case will not open at all) and the dealer provided me with a loaner while my trike is being worked on. I had to sign a waiver for...

Frustrations - side case won't open; now the latch/lever is broken! I hope it won't take too long for dealer to fix!!

Back when I first got my Spyder RT I could not get the left side case to open. Flipping the lever did nothing. Lying on the ground and looking at the underside of the mechanism I saw the wire and the small round adjusting piece on the wire. I simply tightened it up and voila, the case opened...

Interesting conversation at the gas pump - asked why I chose to ride a Spyder rather than 'a real motorcycle'?!

Yesterday I had a beautiful two hour ride, mostly along the Rock River in Illinois, and ended with a stop near my home to refill the gas tank. A middle aged guy approached me, curious about the Spyder. He said it looked really interesting, but wondered why I chose this ride rather than, in his...

I'm even more of a Spyder fan than I was before

Three years ago I traded in my Honda Goldwing for a new Spyder. I had dropped the Goldwing twice in two weeks and both times needed help to get it upright, so I decided that as I was approaching 80 years old I probably should give up on riding a 900 plus pound motorcycle and go to 3 wheels. I...

    First ride of the season

Yesterday was surprisingly warm, temps in the high 50's, so I was able to get out for my first ride of the season. I missed most of the fall riding months because my RT was sitting at the dealer awaiting a part, and by the time the bike was fixed it was mid December. So yesterday was the first...

Thinking of getting a floor jack - how hard is it to find the right place to lift?

I'm still looking for an easy solution to adding air to the rear tire on my RT. I'm thinking of getting an inexpensive floor jack from Harbor Freight, thinking if I an raise the bike up a bit, enough to easily turn the rear wheel, I should be able to take care of adding air more easily. My...

Where is the best spot for Jack placement?

Where would be the safest spot to place a floor jack under an RT to raise it a bit to make it easier to get to the rear tire stem?

Anyone tried a Ramp for the rear wheel to make adding air easier?

I was thinking about getting a portable ramp that I could keep in my garage, to use as means of making it easier to add air to the rear tire. I'm not if riding the wheel up on to the ramp might end up scraping the front end. Wondering if anyone here has tried it, and if so, what specific ramp...

Bummed out waiting for a part

A month ago today I dropped off my Spyder at the local CanAm dealer (where I have had no complaints whatsoever about their service in the 3 years that I have owned my 2021 RT). My Spyder had gone into "Limp Home mode" and it turned out it was due to a faulty speed sensor. Now, a month later...

Absence makes the heart grow fonder - I miss my Spyder!

I think this is true for motorcycles. I had to bring my Spyder RT to the shop almost two weeks ago, and I am still waiting for it. Took over a week before they could look at it, and now am awaiting a part. I have another bike, a fun little Royal Enfield Hunter 350, but I find that I really miss...

My Problem Free time with the RT is over!

In the first 3 years of owning the RT, bought new in 2021, I had not had a single problem. That ended about 2 weeks ago when out for a normal ride, suddenly the bike went into "Limp Home Mode" with several warning lights flashing on the screen including a warning "VSS failure". I was able to...

Anyone have an idea about why my Tail-Lights are Staying on?

An odd occurrence today. After an hour's ride and the engine shut off, the tail-lights remained on. I tried several times turning the key to on and then off again, and each time the tail-lights stayed on. I waited several minutes and the tail-lights did not go off. So I re-started the bike (2021...

If only the Japanese made a reverse trike...

I have had great luck with my 2021 RT, with the only service needed was oil changes after 6,000 miles. But most of my decades of riding I have been a big fan of Japanese motorcycles, particularly Honda (although I did stray to Triumph for a few years). And as pleased as I am with my Canadian...

Can-Am does some things right, others not so much

I love my RT and have never regretted buying it. I prefer the ride to my last ride, a Goldwing. But Can-Am needs to do better with some things. BRP sucks and a foolproof Apple Car Play should be standard. A better designed gas tank is needed. Yesterday the pump clicked with 3.0 gallons put it...

I may have to forfeit my "motorcyclist" membership card!

I really, really enjoy riding my Spyder RT. But I must admit that deep down I know it is not a "real" motorcycle. And in some ways that is a very good thing. The stability and comfort of my Spyder far exceeds what I used to feel on the biggest and best motorcycle that I had ever owned, a Honda...
