• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

5 MOTORCYCLES THAT ARE NOTORIOUSLY EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN

"The Can-Am Spyder Can-Am makes some interesting trikes that will certainly garner you some attention out on the road. We hopped onboard a few of these unique 3-wheeled rides in our 2024 Can-Am Spyder and Ryker Review and relished its ergonomics, but weren't so positive about the weighty price...

Must I Wait for the safety message to appear before hitting mode and starting?

I'm relatively new to a 2014 RSS. I read about this in another thread, that it is not necessary to wait to start the motor. So I went out to the garage, turned the key, immediately hit Mode and Start and it started (in neutral with parking brake on). I've tried to repeat this several times, and...

Do dealers have trade in age limits?

I'm curious to hear any experiences that you have had regarding trade-ins and vehicle age. Have any encountered this, where the dealer would not take your Spyder in as trade because of vehicle age? If so, what was their age limit?

Is there a brake pedal lowering kit for a 2014 RSS?

If I rest my foot on the peg like I do on my motorcycle - center of the boot - the front of my foot hits the brake pedal slightly. I find I must rest the ball of my foot on the peg to keep from tripping the brake switch, then change position to brake. I don't like floorboards; not an answer for me.

PedalBox and Pedal Commander - what do they do and how do they work?

I’ve seen a few posts mentioning PedalBox and Pedal Commander. I was curious about how these devices work and what they do, so I did some investigation and made some tests on my Ryker to find out. I found that while PedalBox and Pedal Commander increase (or decrease) twist grip sensitivity...

New Spyder rider - thought I had a shifting problem, but found this...

I've been riding my 2014 RSS for about a month. When I tried to shift from 1st to Neutral, sometimes nothing would happen. I would have to do it 2 or 3 times to get it to work. I recently came across this (attachment) in the Service Manual. I realized that when downshifting gears while riding, I...

High beam lamp - how do you access it? What bulb to use? 2014 RSS

How do you access the high beam lamp on the projector headlamp? Low beam is obvious. Low beam is H7; what is the high beam bulb? I bought a 2014 RSS used. I rode at night for the first time, and the lighting was terrible. It appears the owner installed these LED low beam lamps, and they are...

Where besides dealers do you get tires mounted and balanced?

I pulled the rear wheel on my 2014 RSS. My local tire shop says they can install a new tire but can't balance because the center hole is too small. The nearest Can Am dealer is 2 hours away. Others have reported that tire shops can do it. What shops specifically?

2014 Can Am Spyder RSS SE5 project

I picked up a new project yesterday - a 2014 Can Am Spyder RSS SE5. As you can see from the photo, the whole front end is missing. The owner's father ran into the back of a car and smashed the plastics. Aside from the missing front trunk, pretty much everything else missing are cosmetic plastic...

Discussing Throttle-by-wire, throttle response, and Pedal Commander 'improvements'

Throttle-by-wire, throttle response, and Pedal Commander Throttle response is a measure of how quickly a vehicle's engine can increase its power output in response to a driver's request for acceleration. A key factor in this is how fast the Engine Control Unit (ECU) and electronic throttle body...

    Simple, basic battery tests

I see a lot of posts by people suspecting a battery problem, or suggesting that the battery is bad, with absolutely no testing being done. It is easy to make some basic tests with a multimeter. If you don’t have one, you should. An inexpensive one for $10 or less is fine. If you’re replacing a...

Here's my Left Turn "wobble" Fix!

Do you have left turn only “wobble”? The “wobble” on turns is the Stability Control System operating. From the Operator’s Guide: “A Stability Control System (SCS) is designed to limit the power driving the rear tire and to brake individual wheels, which reduces the risk of losing control of...

Can anyone explain what aftermarket end links actually DO?

HOW exactly do they work better than stock? I get that plastic is more flexible than metal, but I can't see how the stock links flex even a millimeter. I shot this slowmo video going over bumps and I'm not seeing any flex. If the flex is so small that it can't be seen, HOW does that make a...

2019 Ryker Fuel pump whine - fixed!

I recently completed a fix for an annoying fuel pump whine on my 2019 Ryker Rally. I bought the Ryker used with about 2500 miles on it. The noise started several days after I got it, and was so loud at first I thought that it was a warning tone. I was several hundred miles into a 2600 mile trip...

Electric shift with a linear actuator for a Can Am Ryker!

Electric shift using a linear actuator. I ordered a few parts from the listed sources; the rest came from the local hardware store. I fabricated just one part to attach the ball joint to the linear actuator using ¾” PVC conduit and an end cap cut from a blank PVC electrical box cover glued...

Here's how to do a Parasitic current test...

If your battery is going dead after the bike sits for a few days, and the battery tests good or you believe it is good, the next step is to conduct a Parasitic Current Test. It's not hard to do and doesn't take much time. You'll need a multimeter for this test. If you don't have a multimeter in...

Keyless start Digital Guard Dawg M1 installed

Slingmods sells a keyless system by Digital Guard Dawg at $299. But there is a much less expensive alternative. The Digital Guard Dawg M1 works just fine, is easy to install, and can be had for $107 at DennisKirk. I chose to install it at the starter solenoid. Pull the two-wire plug...

Do you have an annoying rattle at idle?

Mine was due to the airbox banging against the CVT cover. Remove the airbox, drill a couple holes, secure with a tie wrap, rattle gone.
