• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Brake line routing for ISCI hand brake

I am installing the ISCI hand brake kit on my 2014 RT Ltd with triaxial accessory handlebars. I am curious to find the best way to route the brake line as it comes up by the bars. If you have done this I would love to hear about your solution. I'm considering drill a hole un the plastic plate...

    Back again- 3rd time's a charm...?

Hello Spyderlovers, I'm back again on my third Spyder. I had a 2009 RS but the darling wife loved the look of the RT throne and so we got a 2011 RT which was really quite wonderful for us. We rode it from home in MA down to New Orleans and out to Santa Fe when the money ran low and we headed...

Taking a long trip- what to take beyond the regular stuff

In the Spring We are taking the RT from MA to Oregon and who knows where else, traveling light, a change of clothes, credit card, GPS, a map or two and just go. If you have done a lot of this kind of thing can you suggest any items that might be helpful along the way? I have a tire patch kit...

RT- Where to tap in for accessory power, removing instrument cluster

I have many of the panels off the RT and I have wired power and ground to my relay, now I need to tap into a 12v key on source and not interfere with can bus stuff I don't understand. The relay will go on on to power my auxilliary fuse panel. From there I will add my GPS and later heated gear...

Getting vibes- feels like riding on rumble strips

I just got back form a trip to Bar Harbor ME on my 2011 RT-S, total about 600 miles and on the way back I noticed a vibration that comes and goes. It feels like running over the rumble strips they grind into the roadway to wake you up as you approach toll booths. I get it around 75-80 mph, on...

    Radio station presets- how?

O got the RT-S two days ago and the dealer seems to have programmed two station presets into place. I kinda wish he hadn't but it's no big deal, however, I can't figure out how to add my preferred stations as presets. I push the side buttons for more than a second and eventually I get to my...

    Goodbye 2009 RS SE5, Hello 2011 RT-S

Yesterday I picked up my new RT-S and said goodbye to my faithful yellow RS. These first few miles are a revelation of contrasts in going from one model to the other, and from a 2009 to a 2011. Contrasts: Boy is the power steering different! It's really there, not just a little assist but big...

Mode switch getting funky- anyone else?

Turn key on, hit the mode switch, hit the starter, vrooom, and off we go. Not so fast on mine these days- turn the key on, hit the mode switch 5-10 times, hold it in, keep on watching the words scroll on t he dash, finally it works and the dashboard clears, and I can start the Spyder. I better...

Cold day- Spyder didn't like it

I rode to work today- 24f on the way in at 7am. 15f when I went out for lunch. Wind blowing 40mph gusts. Started the SE5 Spyder and it lit up a code- check transmission it said and it wouldn't go into gear. It wouldn't rev either-it was in neutral and I tried to warm it up a bit faster by...

    Heated grips- what's best?

I am contemplating heated hand grips vs heated gloves. The last guy I talked to was all in favor of heated grips. The friend before that was gloves all the way. It seems to me that if the heated grips work well enopguh they would be the way to go just to avoid the hassle of connecting all of the...

Most recent update done- and rated

I just had the most recent update done- vent hose, and software upload on my 2009 SE5 with 1500 miles on it. 1- Driveability- A+ what a wonderful improvement. It now runs wonderfully smooth with no surging or jerking in the 3-4k rev range. I was fairly satisfied with it the way it was before...

    Anybody monitoring oil temp, voltage?

Riding in Winter with heated gear makes me want to monitor voltage. Riding in Summer two up makes me want to monitor oil temperature. Has anyone put on gauges to do so? I like the look of the Motosens gauges and the price is fair. http://www.motosens.com/usa/idea.htm To do the oil temp I...

    Wiring accessory fusebox

I bought a PC-8 fuse panel and today - while it rains- I took off the tupperware and have been getting my first look under the skin at what I got- so far so good. Here's my question- Where to draw switched power from? I see the Spyder fusebox in the trunk has an open spot for a 3a fuse and it...

    35mph- what gear?

I find myself going 35,36, 37 mph a lot the last couple of days- and using 3rd sometimes, 4th others. What gear do you use?

    A couple of electrical questions

First off I'm a new owner and don't know much of anything about spyders, but I was a Porsche Audi mechanic ( poor shoddy mechanic?) for 25 years so I am generally familiar with 12v systems. Then again it's been a while... I am about to do a few things- run wires for my GPS, wires for my heated...

New guy- and glad to be here.

Hello everyone, I just picked up a yellow 2009 SE5 last week at Rt 3a Motors in Chelmsford , MA and have been enjoying the process of getting used to it-scaring myself a few times, giggling like a fool a few times too- as I get such a kick out of riding something so different from the long list...
