• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Great ride ended with hail, blown tire, and ...

Rode ~200 miles today with another 18 in a Jeep with my Spyder on the trailer behind us. Almost made it home on the bike before disaster struck. Started out as a beautiful day 75-84 degrees and patchy clouds. 22 miles from home there was a sudden marble sized hail storm. It was small and I...

Rock -- Crunch -- LH skidplate gone...

I hit a rock the other day and I'm not quite sure what happened. It wasn't a big rock and looked like the foot-over-the-rock technique should have worked. But, I think I ticked it with the left front tire and sent it under the chassis on edge. The result was a shattered LH skid plate. I was...

Anyone else experiencing Braking instability? What possible causes?

In 24,000+ miles I've learned about the characteristics/quirks of my RT's personality. One of the things I noted right from the beginning was the directional instability under hard braking. Accepting this as a characteristic of the vehicle and living with it this long may have been a mistake...

Eco mode? NO. Give us Sport mode!

Eco mode is worthless. What the RT needs is Sport Mode instead. Eliminate the lackadaisical throttle response and make it linear with a Sport Mode. It would suit experienced cyclists better than the mollycoddled computer throttle curve. :p Then I wouldn't have had to buy a Pedal Commander.

Schuberth M1 SRC (cardo) com units DOA

Thus far I've had six SRC com units (four from Revzilla, two from Cycle gear) and only one of those has worked. That is, only one of them would charge right out of the box. The one that worked was part of a 'duo' set and in order to get the bad one replaced, both had to be returned to...

Broken backrest - is something missing? Any ideas?

Took the LinQ backrest out of the box and tried to install it on the LinQ rack. When I turned the lever it popped apart and while I can put the parts back together, there is nothing to hold them together or in place. I assume something is missing. Any Ideas?

Add a Ryker Rally to the stable?..

When I'm out on the RT, my head swivels for a look down every gravel road. RT ain't goin there. When I moved to this area in 2004, I bought a Yamaha XT225 to explore those roads as they were discovered. The XT wasn't road worthy enough though and I soon exhausted all the nearby roads. Gave...

    Belt eating chip seal

There are two seasons in Oregon: "Winter" and "Fire/road construction". I last rode about 5 days ago because we've been having 95° days complete with thunder storms. When I last rode, there was fresh chip seal (Macadam) right at the beginning of the 200+ mile ride. I neglected the bike for a...

Zumo XT gets lost - how can I recover?

I've been using my Zumo XT since about January, for about 7000 miles. I've used basecamp to enter all of my regular routes. Almost inevitably while riding a route Zumo says, "off route. Recalculate?". The map shows me clearly riding on the planned and marked route. If I say no, Zumo...

Tell me what Nanny feels like to you...

With each passing ride I ride a little faster. I never thought I'd tic off Nanny, but Nanny seems to be what I'm feeling in corners. Tell me what Nanny feels like to you, so I can validate these odd feelings are Nanny. I don't want to inject my descriptions, until I see some others.

Lamonster Garage RT floorboard risers - adapter is here!

I just stumbled on Lamonster's video about installing floorboard risers on 2020 and later RTs. I've whined about an adapter in the past and now it looks like it is here. I even tried a mock-up (2x4s) to see how much I needed and 1 1/2" was about perfect. And that's what Lamonster offers...

Access to the Gauge connector - 2020RT

I've been having some intermittent gauge issues -- the kind that poor connections usually cause. I would like to get to the connector on the back of the Gauge panel to clean seal it with silicone grease. How do I get in there?

    Update clobbered my Zumo

Began to download a route to my Zumo XT and Garmin Express said I needed an update. So I clicked 'update'. BIG MISTAKE. After the update connecting the Zumo XT to Base Camp took way longer and gave an error message about a missing file (???/current.gpx). Tried downloading a route and it...

Ride cut short -- Fuel mystery

I had a 140 mile out-and-back planned for the day, since the 60°+ temps would be nice. My plan was cut short, however. Went out to the Spyder and started it before putting my helmet on, as usual. The low fuel light was on and the gauge indicated empty, with 35 miles to empty displayed...

    First zumo trip...

And what a trip it was... I have been planning some rides in an unfamiliar area this summer and that motivated my addition of a zumo to my RT. In preparation, I've learned to use Basecamp and have been planning various rides, just to learn how. Today I tried a ride on one of my experimental...

I want a lanyard on my zumo

I installed my zumo xt today. It seems like it would be easy to lose it on the road somewhere. The scenario I envision is reaching for something in the glovebox an inadvertently dragging my forearm across the latch, loosening the unit. Then while I'm going down the road it falls off...

    Finding the right GPS...

I use and understand the benefits of using a GPS. I don't like being distracted on a ride, and preferring "the music of the road", I don't even listen to music while riding. To me, a bar mounted GPS would be a huge distraction. While a flip up/down mount would be ideal, my alternate plan is...

Hey Arizona, how do you deal with the heat?

At the end of last Summer, I was suffering when the temperature got into the 90°s. My comfort range on 2 wheels was from 60° to 100° -- on the Spyder it's from 40° to 90°. While the range is greater on the Spyder, those 90°+ days were miserable. My conclusion is that I don't know how to...

    Air Bag inflation over winter?

In another thread about winterization, Peter Aawen mentioned inflating his tires to the sidewall maximum for winter storage. I'm wondering if something similar should be done with the rear suspension air bladder on the RT, since I don't want it to deflate completely and possibly get pinched or...

    Snow day, Krikit play...

Since it's snowing and I can't ride, revisiting the belt tension filled the day. When I swapped the rear wheel, I used the Krikit II to tension the belt. My Krikit II has always disagreed with the harmonically measured tension, so I wasn't totally satisfied that the tension was correct. My...
